I am lucky to own a one of one 77 that is being repainted to correct color. I'll post pics on turbo Carrera thread as soon as I get some pics, can't wait to see real color.

Seems to be a nice unit sans whether the cassette works (in the video).
This one is a EURO unit (104 FM). North American units were 108 FM. NA unit's tuning knobs changed (approximately) mid-year NA MY 1979 production, 1978 were all flat face.

Thanks to steveintoronto on the 930 Turbo Carrera thread for his post of "Porsche, Pirelli team up to offer tire options for classics".

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144646103-post6074.html

Hopefully Porsche and Pirelli will resurrect the original CINTURATO P7 thread pattern and sidewall script to replace their current CINTURATO P7 offering for the early 3.3 930.

The rumor is this is supposed to happen fairly soon.

What's your thoughts on when these tires become available. Will it be through mainstream dealers or specialty suppliers like Coker?

My best guess is these will only be available through the vintage tire dealers, they won't be cheap but they will be correct.

Hagerty numbers are out and the 1977,78,79 cars are at the BACK of the pack now.. The 1986,87 + cars now leading the with exception of the 76 cars.

This confirms my suspicion that CONDITION and ORIGINALITY are driving this market. A cream puff 1985 930 can now sell for $180,000.

The reason 77,78,79 930s are down is due to the fact there are no nice examples left. That simple.

There are however very nice 86/89 cars and condition brings the money these days.

So many of the 70s cars where turned into track dogs that I feel we may see a void for some time until these track dogs are restored and brought to a proper auction ( not Mecum).

By the way there is a really nice 1979 930 selling at Mecum in a week or so here in Indy. Very nice car and I full well expect a very poor result. Being sold at Mecum.

I would say it's a very difficult task to find a nice 1970s 930. I have only ever seen a few 1978 930s intact and in good condition. The 1978 930 may have the highest attrition of all 930s followed by the 1976 930.

I have a beautiful well documented 1979 930 that I will be listing by the end of May.
100% original other than exhaust and intercooler. The interior and exterior is perfect. Engine and tranny rebuild in 2015, 49k original miles, black/black,.......

Maybe with your excellent original black '79 & my excellent original Sienna '79 for sale we can turn the Hagerty valuations back into correct territory.

The 79 at mecum did $140,000 no sale. Did better than I thought. Good result.

Yes I believe I am ready to part with it. All of my chums & my oldest Son think I am nuts but its probably time that I thin the herd. A fine-fine car that I dont drive nearly enough.
