On my 2015 Cali T, I saw a little scratches on the car seat. They are kind of faint but obviously not pretty to the eyes. My guess the cause of it is me often trying to squeeze my fat ass into the car after my wife's driven it with the car seats' position moved forward hence leaving less space...... Will from now on remember to adjust the car seat before getting in and can't be lazy about it anymore as just wanna press the seat memory button after sitting down......

How can this be fixed? Should I wait for the scratches to become more apparent and then have my dealer to change the whole leather? Ferrari's dealers do provide the re-wrapping service for the seats, right? Any idea how much it costs in Europe or the US? I'm in Hong Kong so guessing the cost will be twice of that in Europe or the US......

Is scratch common on Ferrari's leather seats? The leather seems rather hard comparing to other leather car seats so could these harder leathers naturally be more vulnerable to scratches?

    Thanks~

All leather seats incur damage, given time.

You didn't post any photos but I would guess the damage is just superficial wear on the layer of polyurethane rubber "paint" that is applied to the leathers in our cars. Yes, the leather is actually painted with a rubber compound. This is how the upholsterer manages to make 100% perfect colour matches from one interior to another. The leather is not actually dyed. If you have doubts about this you can Google the topic. This is also why it's rather useless and a bad idea to try to oil the leather. The top layer is RUBBER.

These tiny scratches can be repaired by the dealer when you bring your car in for service. They simply match the colour and re-apply the polyurethane over the damaged locations. The leather gets a fresh rubber film. The repair is not expensive, at least when compared to the cost of the leather interior of our cars. The scratches on my driver's seat will be repaired when my car is in for annual service, for CAD150-CAD200. That's approximately USD120-150.

Just ask your dealer. They perform such repairs all the time because such scratches are common occurrence. Enjoy your car!

Ahh, interesting someone else is experiencing this on a Cali T too. I was going to stay quiet on my dilemma until I had service look at my car.

I too have a number of scratches and color fading issues on my seats (even at the belt holder that I do not use). I really think this is totally unacceptable for a $280k+ car with only 3600 miles. I'm not that heavy and I do get in & out as gingerly as I can. Dealer will get car next week and they have told me not to worry that they will be able to do something (not sure what that means)

Here are my scratch and faded pics

Alcav5, you're getting wear on the top of the belt holder precisely because you don't use it. The shoulder belt still crosses over that area and rubs when you put it on and wear it. I dare say you'd probably get less wear and tear on the leather if the belt was snapped into the holder.

Thank you for the pictures. The spot on the seat is in an odd location. I would have thought there would be more 'rubbing' on the bottom bolster.

Have you already tried using a leather cleaner? The discolouration on the seat cushion outer edge looks more like staining from jeans than scratches. Pant stains tend to really show on white upholstery but can be readily removed with a good leather cleaner. I use Auto Glym on my car.

Your photo showing the discolouration on the seatbelt guide is quite fuzzy so I can't make out whether it's staining or abrasion damage. My seat guide has zero damage on it even though my car has a lot more miles on it than yours and I also never use the seat guides. However, my seatbelts are of a similar colour to the leather. Still, I would be surprised if your seatbelt guides are scratched.

Here are some photos showing my car seat.

Some pretty interesting rubbing and cracking for both your pics. I have 36,000+km on my FF with daily usage and nothing like this.

I recently took delivery of a new 2016 Cali T, and in anticipation, I ordered a leather maintenance kit (Leather Masters). So imagine my surprise and disappointment to learn that the upholstery is actually rubber/plastic!
Is there any point then, in using the expensive leather cleaning products, or can I just use dishwashing liquid like I do with my other plastic ware?

Well, I'm not an expert on car leather but I do still use leather cleaners (Auto Glym) on my seats and they work fine. I am not familiar with Leather Masters but have heard of them before. It's possible their products are designed to work on leathers that use a protective polyurethane finish.

Thanks, I've read that the product does penetrate the top coat and helps to condition the underlying leather layer, prevent cracking etc.

I use Leather Masters soft cleaner as well as their conditioner on my cars. Seems to do a nice job. One caveat, I have been told by my Ferrari tech NOT to use conditioner on the dashboard top--it could promote shrinkage or wrinkling of the leather there as it dries.

    Well, that's good to know.

I would also recommend using a properly-fitted windshield reflector whenever you park your car outside for any amount of time. It really helps to keep the dash looking fresh.
