You're a long way from home Marty! But thanks for dropping and sharing. Those watches are probably worth as much as the car itself.
348 GTB sold at FMS for 135k plus on roads. Only 252 made and the only Aussie delivered one in the country apparently.
Chassis ZFFUA35D000098421, this was originally a WA car. "In late 1993 the 348 was revised, featuring subtle styling changes (front grille, rear chrome Cavallino and removable seat cushions) and more power, this time producing 312 bhp (U.S) and 320 hp (Euro) from the same 3.4-litre engine, with an improved engine management system - Bosch Motronic 2.7, new exhaust system (single muffler). The revised cars are called 348 GTB (252 made) and GTS (137 made) and were equipped with the F119H engine (as opposed to the original F119D and US F119G). The F119H engine got a bump in compression ratio up to 10.8:1 vs the F119D & F119G 10.4:1 compression ratio, taller intake plenums, fuel pressure was raised from 3.4 bar to 3.8 bar, and different camshaft timing. For these models, both the engine hood panel and lower body skirts were body-colored instead of black, and the rear track was one inch wider due to the mounting area, on the inside, of the rear wheels being thicker. The suspension geometry was revised which greatly enhanced its handling, ride and body control. The fuel tank was also smaller (88L) in order to reduce overall weight and provide space to improve chassis rigidity" Apparently cars also revised final drive ratio.
I don't know how it tells the time, but by God that's ugly. You'd have to be blind and certifiable to put that on your wrist.
Shame they didn't fix the gear-linkage issues at the same time.....but then again this helped accentuate the stark contrast between the 348 and the 355.
The 348 GTB and GTS are by far the most desirable 348s, for mine. Well, apart from Darren's of course. I suspect they will become quite sought after in the future, if not already.
This was on car sales private sale about a month ago at $139,990 so looks like another dealer pick and flip be interesting to know Duttons ask price probably add an extra $30k... Crazy..
They've got it for a few days sorting out the cold start problem. Don't worry, it's got more than enough to flog your clunker
Geez John you better get that OHOS sorted before October, there aren't many people between Cobar & Millard country let alone Mechanics that work on Italian Hot Rods.
It's running fine Kenny, just throwing money away to get something insignificant fixed. I pulled the entire top of the engine off (plenums, injectors, water tank, etc) then synced the throttle bodies (easier than I thought), put all new hoses in, changed the oil again and drove it to Marc for a final check over (all good for a change except he needed to tighten 2 screws I couldn't get to) the car now drives beautifully, no popping on trailing throttle, instant response from the accelerator pedal and the engine seems to be quieter (or I'm going deaf ) I don't know how many of you out there have synced throttle bodies before but I noticed the right side had a small fluctuation in the meter reading but Marc assured me this was normal in these cars so I am now happy the car is fine but the motec people will give me the final report card at the end of the week. Another clue to me that the car was running better was that even after 3 hours of traffic the car was still running smoothly at 60 kph (god isn't that a slow speed ) in 6th gear and would accelerate away very smoothly with a firm push on the accelerator, something it hasn't done for a while.
Hmmm... I managed to find today's graph online. Good work on squeezing an extra 1hp out of it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
