i think i see the problem you dont have your back side of the seats folded forward.IT looks like your top is hitting your seats on the way down.
don]t need to post just watch your own video at 1.20 you see the frame sitting on the top of your seats .there is a reason your seats have to move forward for your power top to come down...remember ..lol
I should have moved them to reduce the chance of confusion -- it sits close to the belt loop, but not on it. second link shows same issue with seats forward.
I've watched it a dozen times to figure out what isn't working correctly, no dice so far. same issue when the power top hydraulics were connected (although I believe were malfunctioning since I had to use the manual switch).
the only thing then is maybe your frame is bent.Lots of times when the top is not working people try to force them..Try putting the top up, back of seats forward and try again.
Watching the second video it appears you didn't get a 17mm jam nut (Or grind down a normal one) as the tr512 video specifically describes as needed. He says in that video that it will jam...
so, that Mondial video that shows the bar to move backward -- same concept but NO video of the 355 top operation I have found online shows the location on our cars.. Once I grabbed the second to most forward bar in the top, the thing slid right down in to place effortlessly. Problem solved. Thanks for the persistent replies helping this foolish BMW tech work on his Italian intruder.
Yep, we Mondial guys have known that trick for a while now. Why did it take you a week+ to try it? Alden
the bar was not obvious, nor was it in the middle. almost entirely at the front... and again, the mondial top mech looks 0% like the 355 mech. appreciate the tip, though. It did seed the idea
