    Yes, W124 series 500E or E500.

Regarding other cars, does the original VW Beetle count as Porsche-designed? 😉

    Yes really, Porsche helped develop the 500E and handbuild it at their factory. Furthermore;

    - Audi RS2
    - VW/Porsche 914
    - Seat Ibiza 1st gen (engine)
    - VW T3 Caravelle

All displayed at the Porsche museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

And the Philips Porsche design water kettle ofourse....

(like the Porsche 911, a water cooker).

    ;)

Porsche wasn't doing well, so Benz gave them a project to make some money on. 1990-1994 I think

I only know this since I ended up buying a 59 model 603. It's an odd bird for sure. But, it has a rear engine, air cooled V8. Talk about cool. I guess Ferdinand designed the cars in the 20s/30s before starting VW. From what I've read, Porshe still did consulting for tatra and there was even a big lawsuit that was settled a few years ago

    Not correct I am afraid.

Tatra were designed by Hans Ledwinka from whom Ferdinand Porsche took inspiration to design the orginal pre-war Beetle. Rear engine and air cooled system, were Ledwinka trademark.

The problem was that Ledwinka was in Czechoslovakia and Porsche in Germany. Czechoslovakia was invaded by the Germans who poached most of the design and engineering they could get their hands on during their occupation. The Tatra 77 and 87 became staff cars for German officers. They were technically years ahead of German cars. Porsche used a Tatra project for a small car to create the Beetle.

The lawsuit you mentioned was in fact initiated post-war by the Czech government against Volkswagen for infringement of copyright, theft of intellectual property, etc...
Years later, when the Iron Curtain fell, VW settled.

Hans Ledwinka remained largely unknown all his life and is one of the unsung hero of European auto industry.

    Renault 4CV

During his time in prison just, after WWII, Dr Ferdinand Porsche was asked by the French to check the plans for their forthcoming small car.
The French government had confiscated and nationalised Louis Renault's factory and wanted to launch a popular car for the masses.

The layout had already been decided, as well as the engine, but Dr Porsche influenced the body shape and other details. The Renault 4CV bears a slight resemblamce with the Beetle.

and what about the TAG engine raced for a few seasons by the McLaren F1 team.

also the Porsche syncromesh gearbox was licensed to several constructors.
