Doing some spring clean up on my 328, and removed the lower spoiler to fix one of the attachment points. I see the fans for the heater with some foam filters. Can these be easily removed and cleaned? Didn't want to break anything, so I thought I would ask how best to remove the filter covers? Anything else I should I do while I am down in that area???

    Thanks
    Bob

They were designed to be removed and cleaned or replaced. As I recall the baskets that hold them in are screwed on. If the filters are in good condition they are made of a washable material.

Or you could just buy some suitable filter material and cut to fit, which I did recently.
I used a cooker overhead filter, works fine
Easy job cost £1 to do both fans, what that in dollars ---- cheap!

Great, looks like the screws are in the center?
Any other "projects" I should take on while in this area? Going to clean off the face of the AC condenser and check the thermostat probe for the AC, since I seem to have a issue with the AC temp setting and the dealer that checked my system did not find a leak or issues with the system. I know if I bypass the thermostat, it works just fine.

Is there an area to grease the headlights or anything else "down under" to do, while I have the spoiler and covers off?

    Thanks again for the advice.

I had a problem with the A/C thermostat which was caused by the capillary tube having got sliced inside the centre console.
The tube ends near the expansion valve under all the black heat insulation gunge.

I replaced the thermostat with an electronic type with a thermistor. There was a slight complication as the 328 wiring switches the ground side of the compressor not the positive side so I had to cut the PCB track in the thermostat to isolate the positive relay contact and connect the output wire to it.
