How about some grinding noises while getting the gear in reverse? Do they appear if you go straight from neutral to reverse?
On both cars I know here it happens sometimes, which is killing me and the owner of the other car too, haha. I'll try your FJ40 technique.

    :)

Getting into reverse is always quite tricky in old trucks, it is a delicate procedure.
It is either hard to engage or made some noise if You push it. Usually the common cure for all old 4x4 is to put in into 1st gear then reverse.

90% of the time my LM gearbox has no problem going straight from neutral to reverse.

Hi Mohammed, how are You ?

These FJ40s, they are good old reliable 4x4.
A lot of interest in them in my Country. The level of restoration by the local mechanics are so unreal. Looks better than new.

    How is Your twin LM?
The Carb is faster than the FI ?
What fuel consumption do You get ? Mine drinks 1 liter per 1 km (2.5mpg LOL) on bad traffic and 1 liter per 2 kms (5mpg) on highway cruise. Quite bad :p

BTW, I'm doing better. Let's say, I'm getting about 7-8 MPG in WOT/city use. Meaning, I can pour some 50 liters and drive for some time, sometimes I don't need it to fill it the same day again! :) In short, I'm not experiencing problems finding gas stations on my way. (I'm running 98 RON, as advised.)
Actually, Brabus 6.0 W124 consumes a little more, although it is significantly faster.

Nice pic! I like the setup. :)

Glad to hear You drive it without a problem.

The best fuel we can get down here is Shell V-Power 95 octane. Most of the times I used Tony's (LambruscoV12) Rabbit Racing TXR+ to get it up to 100 octane, make a HUGE difference. We Dyno'd it at 10 pct better low-end torque and 60 degree Celcius lower combustion chamber temperature meaning more efficient explosion which converts to power rather than heat.

The LM was a great testbed for the fuel since we installed Haltech PS2000 ECU plus 12 EGT sensors. The result is seen in real-time and no guesswork during dyno test time.

Yeah, that's wise to use EGT correction for each cylinder. They don't run equal.
I'm gonna build a low-production EFI for one badass car, 8 EGT probes for V8 too. I think I'll end up with modifying coolant circuit, as some cylinders are way off.

Thank you for asking I am doing well.

Thank you, yes they are very reliable and fun to drive. Only this winter I drove it 3,000KM and use it as a daily driver. I just got an offer on my 82 FJ40 and sold it yesterday.

Regarding the LM The Carb version feels faster, it has an Larini exhaust and sounds nicer than my Countach 25th with Ansa & LM002 EFI with Ansa for somereason.

Can we get a sound check? :)

Taffy, I need your water pump experience. Do you know if it can be cross-referenced with some Diablo pumps? Or is it LM-only design? My friend is having problems with his EFI LM002.
    Thanks!

    Aight, I've got some news.
There are 2 water pump designs for LM002: before and after engine #0059.
The late one has got a bigger pump cover.
Basically, it's an LM-only part, but early Diablo stuff would work. I need an early Diablo seal and I'll make it fixed. :)

    You bought the whole pump?
All in all, there were 2 water pumps on FI LM002 and 3 water pumps on Diablo. And all three Diablo pumps do not cross-fit, as I'm informed. :) Pre-#0058 LM pump might cross-fit with early Diablo, but I don't know for sure.
Do you have a spare plastic belt cover? (around the pump and alternator) I'm looking for one, late pump.

Sorry I have not taken a picture of the new water pump.
Plastic belt cover ? Which one ? I don't think I have any spare in covers though.

Unfortunately I don't have an extra on that.
    Easy metal part to reproduce

Yeah, I'm thinking about making a carbon copy, paint it black (so it'd look OEM) and call it a day...
