I am really sorry I missed this one. It sounds like everyone had a great time. Hopefully I can make the next one. The pictures are great and let me know a little bit of what I missed.

Greetings gentlemen of May Stoogefest. A big thank to the host to begin with. I was rather surprised to see some of you actually working on cars. My experience on the party boat at beemerfest was quite different. More about show boating than anything of substance. But to its defense, the rank and file of the events were attended mostly by teenagers just looking to ride the wave. Here, it is more established. The collective knowledge is obvious. And although my visit was short due to unannounced circumstance, I'm glad to be a witness of the historic even (for me at least). :) By the third, I should be able to do an engine out service on my car on my own :) :) :).

Last but not least, a big thank to yellowcab. The advice you gave me in the other thread is the only sound solution. I am moving on. This time she's not getting the house key. Don't want the same thing happening in my house again. :)

Great day everyone. Thank you all for coming to the pre-Summer Stoogefest! As you can see, the weather cooperated perfectly. A very big thank you for those helping me to set up and everyone brining food and drink, which was just about everyone. Special mention to FBB who worked closely at the grill and in the kitchen. Henry and Peter too put in some kitchen and prep help, so a special thank you. Don, your tri-tip is legendary. I have never seen so much beef disappear so fast with nary a morsel left behind.

We fried 4 turkeys, ate 2 or so. I seem to have left overs for days of fried turkey meat. Peter's wet rub preparation was my favorite. We did about 10 lbs of potatoes in the fryer. Salad, yeah I think there were greens of some sort. ;) And sweets galore. Henry made enough to put one into diabetic shock. Thank you to all attendees and all who pot lucked.

As for work, well, we didn't do as much, but maybe that's not what it is entirely about anymore. From the talk, I think the next one might have more doing and less telling tales, but one never knows. Ron and Karen came over (a local from FCA) with his 85 TR worth somewhere south of $200K and parked it outside on the curb. Brave soul. But they have a great attitude about it. Like to see that. Had a new Alfa 4C, I didn't get to admire it. Next event hopefully. Seemed like more 355's than 348's but its a pretty close match-up.

Thanks also to Mitchell who braved the drive from NorCal. Turned out it was a worthy trip since he was able to off-load the Ketel award on Henry for some rather dubious driving skills involving my driveway and the neighbor's hedge.

For the record, here it is in print: Guys, stay on the high side of the driveway, about 3-4 feet from the hedge until half-way down. Then use your driver's outside mirror, locate the end of the hedge and drive straight past it to miss the mirror by a foot. Exit to drive up the street, then turn around up there to leave the neighborhood. It's really easy.

Henry's car is holding up well since the subframe fix at Tim's anyway. Now we have to polish the bumper. ;)

It was good having Goth in attendance too to share his engineering skills. Truly having all the Stooges in attendance for physical and consulting help was great. Ernie was missed. Dude, you should be here for the September fest.

Looking forward to September or so when Peter will host in Sherman Oaks. At least I replaced my forward and rear lifting struts. Maybe I'll tackle my fluids over at Peters.

It is great being a part of the community and I am always happy to have you over. Thank you for making this a successful event. And a very big thanks to my wife who is a trooper. And now I must go find a suitable/expensive offering of thanks to her. :D

Thanks to Vince for hosting! I think the Socal Stooges are doing less work at these gatherings because the cars are getting more reliable and staying fixed! The brain trust is figuring these cars out and re-engineering Ferrari foibles where indicated. I really think Stooges on track needs to be an annual outing to put our mechanical skills to the next level test. If you can track it and keep it together you are winning. Ferrari exercise should be a mandatory part of ownership.

Thanks to Vince and Barbara for hosting yet again. Always a great time and wonderful hosts. Good to see everyone - old friends and new.

You got yo hand it to Henry for taking an angle grinder to the bottom shield. No need to remove it when you can cut around it. Stooging all the way! Maybe that altered the wind resistance and caused the premature turn back into the bush?

In any case the torch, or Ketel, was passed with the ceremonial drink. Mitchell got to pass it on and Henry is the reining winner until Stoogeapalloza in the fall. Date to be determined soon.

OK, so I know you guys have been waiting for me to contribute to this on-going thread, so here's what REALLY happened. Mitchell made it down from NorCal (as did Jason) and brought with him the much-coveted, "Ketel Cup." This prize is awarded to the Stooge who shows up with the most problems (ie. Mitchell last year), or somehow screws up more than all of his brethren at a Stoogefest. While servicing my F355, I came upon an ingenious solution whereby I could access both oil plugs without having to remove either diffusor, or the underbelly pan. I cut a small notch (there go the concours points!) in the tray with an angle grinder and proceeded to change my oil. Desperate to present the cup to SOMEONE, the braintrust threatened to give it to me for my work-around. I argued that my alteration was actually a rather clever feat of engineering. So they left me alone for a while. But these guys are like a pack of wild (albeit well fed) animals. Under the guise of seeing one another off in the street in front of Vince's house, they gathered and JUST HAPPENNED to watch me back my car down the driveway. At this point I began to feel sorry for them (and Mitchell) and decided to take one for the team, thus backing into the row of hedges that line the drive. Yes, I will have to spend countless hours re-spraying and buffing out the damage, but it was well worth it. Fatbillybob laid down in the street in front of my car, lest I even think about scurrying off without having the aforementioned cup presented to me. As is tradition in this long and esteemed ritual, the former holder must first drink alcoholic libations from the vessel before handing it off to the new, "winner." Mitchell was a bit too happy if you ask me, but I graciously accepted my trophy, also partaking of the stooge-necktar within, before driving off to lick my wounds.

There is a lesson to be learned here my future-Ketel-Cup-winning-friends. When you do ultimately fu*k up, and you will, DON'T DO IT IN FRONT OF ANY WITNESSES!

Thanks to Vince and Barbara for the incredible hospitality and a special thanks to Jason who kept me from having to crawl out from under my car every two minutes to get tools, towels and new gloves. Great turn out with a great bunch of guys (and gals).

PS: I took it upon myself to engrave the coveted cup in a fashion commensurate with the idiocy and shoddy work it represents. Hope ya'll like it...

    Cheers, Henry

Henry's "go to" tool of choice, the angle grinder. Who would have thought? And I just bought that thing to grind down some granite for a tight fit. What an adaptable tool!

The etching job on the cup speaks volumes. Well done, sir! (I almost want to pull a major blunder to get it in residence - almost).

Isn't having us all for friends blunder enough to own the ketel kup?

Henry was a great sport! He allowed himself to be an easy target for enjoyment of all. Great job on the etching. 20 years from now that cup will be pasted around and the new guys will wonder who "greats" were but we will know...

My wife laughs every time she sees the cup. It was a spur of the moment grab around our house during at last Fall's Stoogeapalloza in an attempt to find something resembling a "trophy" and a "kettle" and the coveted Ketel Award was born. JT's (Ketel) exploits were the original inspiration and when Mitchell had his car both towed to the event and back out, we knew that it all had to be immortalized for posterity. The drinking out of it came about just for fun. That's the way traditions are born.

    Way to go recipients!

We are having way too much fun here. I feel sorry for other Ferrari owners who have to make due with stodgy club events. :D

    1. Henry and Peter dissecting the birds.
    2. My SS (covered) and 355 trio.
    3. Got to fly the colors!
    4. Henry's 355GTB prior to meeting the hedge.
    5. Mitchell's 355 Spider in Swatters Blue.
    6. The non-working Stooges hanging out for the eats.
    7. Henry parading his new cup around in the street. Maybe he was hoping a car would put him out of his misery. ;)
