Ha ha... My point exactly & if it is an intercooler, you would think that the sellers would at least mention that the car has a turbo in the description.
Mike, I think What James is saying is that it is a turbo inter cooler with CIS injection. CIS (stock fuel injection) is a poor combination and unlikely to work well.
Here is a picture of my intercooler. They look very similar. Why would it be fake? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does it actually look to be IN the UK? That would lower the scam risk. I can't tell. I see a lot of American cars but the dude sitting by the wall looks like a football hoodlum.
Ad says the Texas plated 'original' car with the odd looking intercooler is currently located at the Bayonne, New Jersey docks, available for shipping anywhere. Photos show several cars parked in the streets in the background with New York license plates. It goes on to quote estimated shipping costs and import fees to the UK. Apparently still in the US, but not looking for a domestic sale...
In one picture, two way traffic flowing with North American directional flow. The only true way to know if in UK is if dude had smiled to show teeth.
Hey thats a cruel racial stereotype (although true in my case, my teeth are terrible ) US cars appear quite often on UK sites. There is quite a large import trade and cars would fetch higher prices here in general. In an installation like that, where would the turbo be? would it be blowing through the air filter box and CIS?
Same in France; we have one or two importer(s) regularly advertising U.S cars, that are still in the U.S of A. for most, saying that they will take care of all formalities, customs, registration, transportation, etc...Final, total, prices, all formalities included, are still lower than those of the true "continental euros" models here. Rgds
The 'teeth' statement could equally apply to folk from Arkansas. The turbo would be under the intercooler. Agree that stock CIS would NOT be the way to go. This would be a candidate for buying and then sorting the turbo properly (keeping all the original bits to put back to stock later on). E.g., clutch, pistons/rings, valve springs, head gaskets (copper ones with rings), etc. The price would need to be extremely low to justify the work though...
Used to be Louisiana was number one. It flipped with West Virginia for the top spot for a long time but one thing I have learned from looking in mouths everyday since 1991 is that money or position in life is no indication of the number of missing or bad teeth. Not at all. I have pulled teeth on wealthy lawyers wearing Rolex Daytona's because they were blown out and they didn't want to spend a dime on fixing it. Same with professors at large Universities (one yesterday and it was a front tooth). So anyway...
