Where did they come up with the title? Flying Car? As pilots, articles written for the masses generally seem to make you cringe or laugh. A little bit of everything in this one.
I had a demo ride in a searey earlier this week. I can recommend one. If you'd be interested in an LSA amphib, it's sure worth a look. I'll probably buy one. Go down to the factory and take a demo ride. It's huge fun!
Jim- No clue since it clearly cannot be a car. At least they got out and flew one. The guy who flew it did not even have a pilot license.
Paul Bertorelli's view of ICON's situation. Icon Production Delays: The Inevitable Explained - AVweb Insider Article
Since I originally posted this info in 2010 Icon aircraft has come along way. I believe they just delivered their first plane to a customer with a long line waiting. They do have training classes which they now offer. I would love to take the class to see how this plane really flies.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is a video of him at the factory with his wife talking up the plane showing them flying it around...sad. Pilot error caused the crash at Lake Berryessa earlier this year..which killed one of the chief engineers...

Does anyone have a link to the crash that killed the lead test pilot and engineer? A guy with a new toy I can understand, but pilot error by the lead test pilot.....
One I found https://www.wired.com/2017/05/icon-a5-crash-kills-2-including-unique-planes-lead-engineer/ and another https://www.engadget.com/2017/08/11/icon-a5-accident-pilot-error-ntsb/ Another http://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/news/a26440/icon-a5-amphibious-plane-crash/
Thanks Scott. The plane is kind of cool and I love the interior. Too bad bad piloting is gonna put Icon out of business.
These planes look similar in size and shape to the Osprey II that I inquired about a few months ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osprey_Osprey_2 Image Unavailable, Please Login

There is one at Tahoe; even at 6225' that thing gets off the lake FAST! And climbs out like a turbine......sounds pretty good too!
