1st post here but my question is, I thought Ferrari was crazy strict to whom they lend their product out to test and review ? or is it this easy to make a YT vid and Ferrari will give you their product to review ?

any one can clear this up ?

    I'll give it a try.

Matt Farah is a very popular car reviewer, has a popular podcast, has been on many shows, and if anyone has the ability to get 216,000 views in 5 days consistently like he does and this video has........I'm sure a dealership will be more than happy to give them a shot for the advertising as well.

He's actually one of my favorites, is very knowledgeable, and has a very good delivery but that is just my opinion.

Matt is an automotive journalist who is using the new rules of media - shorter, higher volume videos that balance his subscribers' expectations with low production time/cost to keep from being upside down. His one take videos feature cars like the 488, Cali T, recent twin turbo Huracan, as well as lower tier cars and cars of viewers. It's an informal approach but he is a legit journalist who works with / Drive and has co hosted car oriented tv shows. No im not his agent - just aware of his videos and like the contrast to the high polished review style of bigger productions.

+1 but looking at the comments in the vid, does Ferrari want to be associated with that demography ? really thought Ferrari was extremely strict when it came to its reviewers of their products ?

I really like the "modern" times, much more opportunities to get information, information from different sources. This video is one positive example.

What demographic about the reviewer offends you ?

Is it that he is not attired in his Sunday best, the shaved head, the goatee, the oversized watch ? Does he not fit the stereotypical owner that you envision ?

Believe it or not, not every Ferrari owner is a GQ model, investment banker, or movie star and I think the generalization that you seem to infer is invalid.

If, per chance, I interpreted your post incorrectly then I apologize. If not, then please clarify as your prejudice is glaring.

lolz at the prejudicial / borderline ignorant response.

Matt Farah is a long standing journalist for the Drive network and some searching can find him driving everything from a Model T Ford, to hotrods, to home-made 1000hp SUVs. He always comes across as an accomplished and knowledgeable presenter who understand all aspects of cars as well as loving them and showing genuine passion for the technology as well as the actual joy of driving.

If you've seen a lot of his videos it's worth noting that he doesn't often wax lyrical as heavily as he does in this video - and few cars genuinely surprise him performance wise. The fact that with his wide experience level he is as smitten with the car as he shows I think is the most glowing compliment to the 488 in this review.

Back to my Coutts photoshoot anyhow...

some salty people in this thread

Matt is a very popular car reviewer. He himself has multiple cars including an aston martin vanquish (1st gen) with a manual transmission swap.

How about that his dad was former COO for Ralph Lauren? Is he qualified enough to drive a rari yet?

call it what it is...its glaringly obvious, nothing borderline about it. i happen to like and enjoy Matt Farah's videos, if the poster doesn't that's fine, move on to the next reviewer, but this post says more about YOUR character, not his...

A well respected auto journalist that many people enjoy....

Actually you're the type of person Ferrari doesn't want to be associated with....

    Maybe I am misunderstanding you.

    What does "demographic" mean?

Are you suggesting, there is a social as contrasted to an economic "criteria" that is or should be applied to owning a car?

If anyone cares about more than celebrity or money, they must be hiding someplace.

Personally, I have never seen the guy before, but he impressed me as someone who respects the car he drove and know a bit about it. He seemed like a nice guy having a good time. Best

A thought occurred to me while on this subject. A true story I reflect upon on occasion.

Many years ago, I owned a Volkswagen bug. Long story short, I met a girl and with her facing forward over the front seat and me behind her (well you get the idea), she left a finger nail scratch right under the sun visor. For many years I looked at that scratch and smiled.

Many years later, I was driving a Rolls Royce on a Los Angeles freeway. I was married to a woman who always said to me "all you want is sex" (of course she was correct). While driving we (once again) got into a heated argument and she "jumped" from the passenger seat, and on to my lap facing backwards (head over my shoulder), and said " ok, you want sex, go ahead". Besides almost crashing the car, the last thing I wanted was sex with this woman at that moment.

Question: Would you rather have owned and experienced the Volkswagen or the Rolls Royce. Best

What is said about Matt is absolutely true. He's been doing this for a while now. He has his own style like all journalists. The fact that it appears FNA gave him a car to do a review tells me all I need to know about what FNA thinks. How seriously do you take the comments on You Tube videos? I don't take them for very much. I don't think Ferrari really cares about the comments either. I respect Matt's opinion but I don't always share his take- but isn't that how it goes in life? He knows what he's talking about and he knows what he's doing and I think he adds to the landscape so I welcome it. FWIW, I enjoyed his 488 GTB review.

Decent enough, if casual review. Sometimes they tell you what you want to really hear much better than the more formal reviews. What was going on with the motorcycle when they hit a dual carriage road? Give the car a break - it's a car, if it can go quicker let it by. It's already hard enough mixing with bikes because you want to give them as wide a berth as possible, riding like that heightens everyone's frustration.

I like this guy. And what has a demographic got to do with Ferrari? They're bought by young rich and old rich and sometimes not so rich. People who have made money from business, sport, art, entertainment, parents, lottery, whatever. Where's the demographic there?
