Great job! What did you do to the gearbox? Change ratios?

Gorgeous car! That GTO front end looks perfect on a 308 in my opinion. Just doesn't get any better.

Have not had a chance to go through this whole thread, but impressive from what I've seen so far...

No, we rebuilt it but kept the original ratios. I may be looking for a later (or Mondail) gearbox with wider gear spacing.

There is still hope for the new generation. I have taken the 308 to pick up my son at elementary school twice now.

The first time I was a little late and the kids were already running out of the school doors. I heard at least one yell "FERRARI!"

The second time as we idled through the pick-up lane I saw another kid tug at his mom's shirt, point and say "That's a Ferrari."

Wow, first of all your car is absolutely beautiful. I find the aesthetic mods and color to result in a car that is absolutely stunning.

The mechanical mods are very impressive and obviously show they work in the resulting dyno graphs.

I won't be modding my GTB, but man I can only imagine how much fun your car is to drive! I have a 12,000 NSX that makes 585whp on E85 and it is a handful.

    Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful, just beautiful! Assume the clutch redone for the added HP?

I love those wheels! I can't seem to find where to buy them. Are they unobtainium, like Compomotives?

Thank you. I am using a kevlar disk from Norwood Italia and Bob Norwood added a ring of Centerforce style pivot weights do my pressure plate to increase the clamping force at high rpm.

They are a Japanese brand and I assume totally out of business. Originally they were on a Z32 300ZX. A friend imported them to the US for me. I used custom machined adapters to fit them to my 308.

I got on the freeway behind a late model C6 Corvette today. He attempted to show me what American iron runs like. I stuck to him like a shadow. He was pretty surprised to see an old Ferrari stay right on him. I was on the low power setting about (480whp) and he got the advantage of the initial hit, but I'm not disappointed.

    Hi Aaron,

Interesting input on the clutch and the mod that Bob Norwood did... thank you for getting into the details. Bob upgraded the clutch on my '84 308 QV to handle the extra HP under turbo-boost, but this was many years ago and a lot less boost/RWHP than you are making. It's handled the extra HP well over the years.

It's puts a smile on my face to hear of your 'vette encounter! There are those that see the 308 and think "Wow" and then those that think, "Yes, but it's old technology and slower than my car...". With the turbo conversion you can definitely make the latter crew think again if you so desire! Nice to have that performance capability in the 308.

    Best,

John (a fellow 308 'rocket' owner).

our site allows more than one photo per post, but your phone is probably trying to name each one image.jpg and you need unique image names to load more per post.

wow Aaron, I haven't kept up on all the 308 boosted cars, but doesn't this one have the most power of any? not counting the "288 GTO" 308's and I think the last 4-digit HP car never got finished by Norwoods.

    Thanks Rob.

The last 4 digit car you are talking about is probably the black carbon fiber Carmack GTO. It has been sold (again) and is currently at Bob's getting work done. Originally it was going to have a F40 style rear window, but the new owner prefers the original GTO look. So they have to do some serious cutting to make that work.

But yes, for now I am one of the most powerful 308's. As far as I know there is only one beyond my power level that used the transverse engine lay out.

I cannot seem to access this... Do you have another link or have you posted this on YouTube? Would love to see it!

The Rotrex supercharged 3.5L we did a couple yrs ago was over 500 at the wheels. Mark aka Mke ages ago I believe also was north of 500Hp with his blower motor too. But yeah it's rarefied air up here :D

3rd @ 8500 rpm is ~90 mph, geared. Losses etc.. will probably take a couple off of that. That velocity is of course based on OEM tire dia.

    Awesome... that's lots of FUN!

Can you data log your runs? Best would be to sync them with a g-force meter and then you can calc on road tq power etc...

    US 308 with 255/40 R17 would be 91.999 mph at 8500 in 3rd. :)
