I don't see why a stack of option tires on a dolly cant be within reach "just in case". Very easy to do.

It's interesting, but hardly surprising, that there is a significant correlation between those who blame Hamilton and those who don't like him. Those of us who are more neutral tend to see it as a joint blunder.

Hamilton listened to his team in China in 07 and it cost him the WDC.
No-one knows the condition of the tires and track better than the driver.
On the other hand the team knows the overall race strategy and relative opponent positions better.

It really is a team sport.

Nonsense - you Hamilton Haters now dominate this forum, to the point where few are willing to even make a positive comment about Hamilton because all the haters swarm out of the woodwork.

At this point, you can't pretend that Hamilton fans speak up much at all here. They are vastly outnumbered by the haters - and those of us who are sick of the constant Hamilton Hater attacks and would prefer to be able to have rational F1 discussions don't bother to post much here any more.

The blame lies more with the pit wall than with the RB mechanics - the engineers had planned to put Ricci on the Soft, and had the new set ready to go for the pitstop. When Hamilton went to the Ultra Soft, the RB engineers changed their minds and called for the available set of Super Soft for Ricciardo. THAT call was the problem - as itschris pointed out, the garage areas at Monaco are very small, the tires were stored in two different locations, and it took too long to dig out the Super Soft on very short notice.

Blame the engineers for not calling for Ricciardo to stay out another lap to get the SS tires ready in the pit lane.

Probably a good bit of blame to go around. I think everyone knew the situation with space, just no one seemed to think about contingencies. Did the engineers know the tires where out pocket? When it was clear that the wets and inters were not going to be used anymore... why weren't they swapped out to the holding area right away to make sure the tires that could/would be used would be readily accessible? It's just a silly oversight with monumental consequences.

Strategy has become almost too important. It's to the point where one bad call, even a small one, has become too much to overcome by the best car, best driver, best race. in this era, you just can't seem to make up the time against equal or nearly equal competition. Ric maybe should've caught and passed Hamilton, but couldn't even though they were saying he was faster. That to me is the biggest problem with F1 right now. I think downforce has become the biggest obstacle to truly great racing. I failed to understand that until a couple years ago, but it's been pretty obvious that if you trail and work to setup your pass on an equal car, you're just going to destroy your tires. Then again, you have to have the tires in the pit in the first place.

Even more valid at Monaco, and probably the main reason why I don't like that race anymore. I mean, we all know that if the guy in front decides that a much faster opponent behind him will not pass, the guy will not pass, period.
So we are watching this Grand Prix waiting on race incidents for the order to change, knowing full well that the fastest guy on track may not have any chance at overtaking at all.
Very frustrating that the fastest man on track may not have a chance to prove his talent.
(Even more frustrating for that said fastest guy who did not have tyres ready, of course).
This is really not a race.

The question is: where does this "hate" come from?
I do not remember that Hamilton was a big theme 2/3 years ago, then a few Lewis-Racing-God-Worshippers joined the forum and constantly trolled with their messiah-like comments until people over here got sick of it. A few have put them on ignore, others counterattacked, especially when they started to bash anyone without the prename Lewis.
So instead of pointing the finger on the "haters" who have been here for ages without "hating" anyone one should ask what the worshippers did to this forum. I think few of us really "hate" Hamilton (how can I, I do not even know him personally?) but a few of his followers, so are the "haters" are writing against Hamilton or his hardcore fans?

Which is why Nico had to let lewis by. Nico could've stayed in 2nd for quite some time but had to move because of mechanical problems and team order.

Why didn't lewis just pass him on his own?

Because if he tried and Nico would have not moved to the side it might have ended in another crash. I guess the team made clear to both of them that they would not accept that once more. Maybe normally Hamilton would have tried, but certainly not after the last race...
And Rosberg did let him by once asked because he can not afford to have the team against him either. I would not blame Hamilton for not trying in this situation against his own team mate, simply to dangerous...

No. It's irrational arguments from their side. The Hamilton Hardcore, all they care about is Hamilton, which is fine...but they keep forcing it down our throats in some sort of vain attempt for us to get to like him (whilst all they're ensuring is that we dislike him even more), put down any other driver. They're extremely one sided, Hamilton can do no wrong, the rest can't do any right right. The guy Hamilton only narrowly has beaten over the last 3 seasons gets put down constantly (though how much this proves Hamilton is better baffles me then).

And all of that, we put up with, whilst they promote their asshat of a driver, contribute little to nothing to the forum. Why I ask you? What is their sole purpose of being here? Are they messengers to tell us he is the great one we must all worship? If that's the case, they're simply ISIS sans the explosions.

The problem is, Peter, that the majority here would like to see sensible, adult discussion about matters F1, but it's spoiled by posts (on either side) that are more schoolboy than adult. If the "Hamilton worshippers" had been ignored we probably wouldn't be where we are now, but some as you say "counterattacked" and I suspect there is probably no going back now.

No question...But your original post was very single sided. The fault is not simply on the "haters" and the comment about ignoring would work both ways...How many over here really "HATE" Hamilton and do premature comments? I doubt that these are more than those worshippers they reply to. The problem is that everyone not associating with the fanboys is generally labelled "hater". I was named hater as well and I can assure you that I feel nothing about Lewis at all, I neither hate him nore do I like him.
But what I hate are those unlogical, single sided arguments contradicting themselves every second post...

Absolutely - but I used to find rational, well thought, often deeply technical, discussions of F1, strategy, technology, driving, along with a Ferrari-focused fan base. That's far more rare these days - to the point that people blatantly and deliberately ignore interesting material to be able to maintain and post their Hamilton bias.

I agree that too much aero downforce is a large part of the problem, yet unfortunately F1 is moving to increase for 2017. I think they have it backwards. However, this was Monaco, and it's not just this era - look up Monaco 1992, with a legendary Senna vs. Mansell battle. Mansell pitted quite late in the race due to a suspected puncture, lost his lead to Senna, and even with the large car superiority of the FW14B along with the fresh tire advantage, there was no way he could get past Senna. 24 years ago!

Chicken and egg - but there are now far fewer chickens, and the eggs haven't backed off. Go ahead, count the posts in this thread - in a thread about Ricciardo, count up the negative comments about Hamilton versus the positive - the Haters far outweigh the worshipers. That same ratio exists everywhere in the F1`section now - blaming the Hamilton worshippers for the large volume of Hamilton Hater posts doesn't cut it now.

Someone, not a "worshipper", posted a thread linking a recent Hamilton interview, and the thread became dominated by Haters, many of whom refused to even look at the interview and insisted that even if Hamilton came across as the nicest guy, they knew absolutely that it was all fake, hate hate hate etc. Completely irrational. Who wants to bother engaging with the Haters at all when the hatred blinds all so much that they deliberately ignore facts and reason? I'd also bet that in the ratio of Haters vs. Worshippers in that thread, the Haters vastly outnumbered the worshippers (leaving out the impartial who posted and the impartial like me who didn't even bother to post). I'm not a Hamilton worshipper, but he is a damn good driver, far better than the Haters ever give him credit for (to see how ridiculous the hatred is, the Haters like to pretend that Massa is competent and just as good as Hamilton). Personally, I don't care for the tattoos or lifestyle, so I wouldn't count myself as a Hamilton worshipper, but I watch F1 for the driving and the man is amazing. I can acknowledge that, I can acknowledge several of the other drivers who I think are special even though I don't like their public persona (Alonso, for example).

Ps: I also hate Alonso....and i don't like Kvyat..don't like Ron Dennis either...hated Coulthard...and used to make fun of Rubens...not a fan of Senna either..nor Prost (although these 2 were pretty good)

Quite the contrary. Most of the ''haters'' all acknowedge (and have said more than once!) that they respect Hamilton as a driver etc. I think last year there was another thread about the spectacle wearing bell end and the biggest gripe is with his public persona. Actually, not the biggest, but the main reason!

And here we go in that vicious circle again. We get branded haters, because we don't sing praise of his Hamiltonness at every ****ing post we make. Just because I think he's a knob, doesn't mean I don't think he can't drive. More often than not have I placed him in the top 5 drivers in the current field (how could you not!?). Pretty sure this is the case for all us ''haters''...again, just because they don't sign off every post with how good they think hamilton is doesn't mean they don't think he's not!

And regarding the interview...It's not a spontaneous interview, hence my skepticism.

OK, as you mentioned this thread: have a detailed look at it...
On page one is not a single word about Hamilton, first post second page is toil coming along with his usual "I hate Vettel" attitude starting all the mess. Then he leans back and every now and then he puts in some oil into the fire...

So here is a Ferrari-Forum and a lot of Ferraristi are known to be very biased towards the Scuderia, it is not a surprise that Ferrari is selling so many fan-stuff to people feeling connected to Ferrari. They tend to love the Ferrari-driver more and the opponents less, be it Vettel at RB or Hamilton at Mercedes taking the naturally deserved WCC and WDC from the Scuderia. One might call this quirky but that is why they come to a forum with like-minded -> "FerrariChat"

BUT: where is the sense to join a forum of a Team you do not like just to tell them on and on that someone else is better? Why not join a Mercedes-forum? I guess because there he/they would be nothing special and nobody would answer to their countless posts about their god because it would be only some sort of ambient noise. So obviously they are either here to get attention or simply to troll...But still they present themselves as "victims" in a forum full of haters. And all they come around is: put me on ignore if you do not want to read my posts...

Bas, I'd say you're only borderline a hater ;) . The real haters won't even acknowledge that Hamilton is a handy driver, if Hamilton acknowledges his team in interviews, on podiums, on the pit radio, the haters insist it's fake. They insist he's a barely average driver and has lucked in to 3 championships and 44 wins. They trash him at every mention, from anybody, not just a worshipper. There's plenty of those guys here, overwhelming those of us who can admire his driving skills and even his team-focused attitude without having to sign on for the dopey tattoos and fashion show lifestyle.

Anyway, enough said from me. I'll go back to silent mode. Oh, wait...

Anybody going to Monza this year? Want to meet up? I haven't been to an F1 race since 2012 when I made it to Montreal and Silverstone, but we are going to Monza this year!

With the exception of hanging out with Bieber and having him there at the celebration, I really have no problem with Lewis at all. In fact, I just don't actually see the antics and demeanor that the so called "haters" repeat over and over again. In fact, I think he's one of the more thoughtful speaking drivers in F1. He defends his team, his actions, takes responsibility when needed. I just don't see the things that people say about him. He's single, a millionaire, and has the world at his feet right now. I'm glad he's out there having fun and bringing attention to F1.

I think there's a difference between not being a fan vs. hating someone. As in this post, I'm just sort of tired of Ric. Sure, he's super talented and likable, but some of what he says, how he says it, show me a different aspect to him that just rubs me the wrong way. I don't hate him though... I just don't see myself rallying for him like I used to... and I gave my reasons. But the way some people just go after Seb, Lewis, Nico, and others is pretty odd. For whatever reason I like Seb. He's probably my favorite driver. Not sure why... he just is. I do like Lewis because he reminds me of old school sportman. Nico is just too much debutante for me, though I don't feel the need to bash him every time he complains or discount any success he has. When it just becomes automatic, that's the problem. When any win is reduced to luck, any incident reduced to being a bad driver... that when credibility goes out the window for some of the discussion here.

That's not the way it was.
From his start in 2007 many were just too eager to pile on Hami because "he didnt pay his dues" or "he was Ron's favorite son" or wah wah wah. I didn't mention race but I'm sure it had an impact.
IMO because of this self inflicted hatred those reveling in it missed the most enjoyable season in F1 in my lifetime.
    Too bad.
    You lost out.
    Not my problem.

Now we're reduced to talking about whether he is gay and Justin Bieber.
    Grow up.
