Plus if you live in CA, you need to pay when you renew your registration. For Ferraris, it's always $1,000 to $2,000 depending on your car annually. I used to get D/C if I renew registration for 3 years in FL. CA doesn't work that way... I do not know about other states.

you have to pay the sales tax even if you buy private.
unless its different in NY but Id be surprised. you pay a private seller X and then when you go to DMV you pay the sales tax.

    Stick to your guns.
If you're holding out for $200K then it's just a matter of time.
Before the right buyer steps up.

I keep going back and forth on whether I'm going to sell mine. Just curious what you guys would list a 2012 with approx 4K on clock. [IMG] Image Unavailable, Please Login
I know it doesn't add value but I have full clear bra on it too.

Can you post a photos of the Window Sticker? Or what was the MSRP? You're probably thinking bottom line $215K - $230K right?

I don't have window sticker, only the list of options I posted. I'd definitely sell for $230k, but I am somewhere in that range for what I'd let it go for.

Just post it up for $230K in the classified section and see what interest you get. I'm sure you've already received some PM's just based on your recent posts.

Might want to remove the window tint film, and maybe the clear bra if it's aftermarket. Some potential buyers like cars to be factory stock. I looked for a car without aftermarket clear bra on it because I wanted to see what the paint was like and I didn't trust that clear bra had not harmed the paint. Plus it yellows with age.

some private partys are really not smart about it. I negotiated a deal with this guy and he basically wasnt comfortable putting a lower price on the bill of sale, the deal fell apart smh.

Well. States have gotten smarter. In the state of Texas, they enter in the vin number of the car and they tax the higher value between the purchase order or the value that is returned by the vin so you can't get away with cheating the system

Valid point Matt. Most here on the forum are senior executives or business owners so there is inherent risk in everything we do. "Pushing the envelope" on a bill of sale is not something most would risk. Just too many ways it can come back and be detrimental. There are smart and 100% legal ways to approach the sales tax aspect of the purchase...
