#1 rule: TALKING TO THE POLICE WILL NOT HELP YOU Let the lawyers do their thing. Top 10 Reasons You Should Not Talk to the Police, Right to Remain Silent - Law Offices of James Kirk Piccione [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wXkI4t7nuc[/ame]
Oh the temptation to drive/beat on someones exotic car. The cops are notorious for this. Remember when Auto Mart or whatever Nader's place was called? The news had footage of cops doing burnout, reckless driving, and exhibition of speed in cars that weren't theirs. "Do as I say, not say as I do?" Right. At the end of the day, they are cops- hence the job. There are many good ones, and a few not so good ones. At the end of the day, if you like nice things, someone will always be jealous and do whatever they can do to take your stuff
Is this a joke? These day's in California who know? ...Now the D>O>T pulling over car's on Mulholland and popping there hoods..A full blown shake down..
If it isn't a joke. it's a definite abuse of power. The detective, and the son of the cyclist, who is a detective should be put on leave for making this a personal issue when originally the cyclist was found at fault.
Sounds very possible to me. Certain local police in some parts of CA are jealous and very petty. Conservative Orange Co is not immune. In lesser states, local police and totally corrupt as a common occurrence.
Embarrassed cop's pop crashed his bike and just had to do this???? Seems like a lot of BS orchestration going on over at the PD for this guy, maybe a city official? BUI?
I'm not buying the story either. A newbie joins the forum just to post this story? Happy to be wrong - but need more proof other than this (admittedly great) story. DaveGee
cliff notes ? what's missing is the question ? I'm in the dark on this as much as the limited bits of info I have gotten. only reason I shared this as many of fellow so.cal members go on group drives just passing this on + if anyone wanted to share if this is happening more often or is this a random case of a person getting a brain fart.
What's missing from this story, is that the GoPro most likely revealed a lot more than just the accident. There was probably footage of all the cars breaking laws left and right on their cruise. I believe the bit about the cops and tow yard people having fun in the seized cars, they probably think innocent test drives of impounded exotics isn't a big deal when it really is. However the part where the cop chases him down on foot and steals his phone sounds a bit too convenient and makes my BS flag fly high. I hope the story isn't true, I think parts of it might be, maybe there is even more to the story on things they did that were illegal, who knows?
Again, Not buying the story. 1). Name anyone involved. 2). Name any officer involved. 3) Show a vid of any perps with hands "tied behind their backs". Plenty of phone cams around...yes?. 5) So....this would not be in the OC Register or local news on tv? Sorry...
Seems like a hit and run to me. And everyone that was "cruising" in the group should be considered "Involved" I don't blame the cops. Did any of the cruisers stop to help the bicyclist? If not, BIG PROBLEM. I got my popcorn out and waiting.
If true, then someone here on F-chat should have at least heard about it with the X degree of separation, no?
Suggestions toward a remedy (if indeed the clan is innocent and there are no serious violations of the law that have been withheld in the telling of this story): 1. File an official complaint with the District Attorney's office 2. Take the story to a sympathetic local journalist - abuse of power stories tend to get traction
