its not rocket science! performance of the 430>360>355>348>328>308. the newer cars, up to a point, always outperform the older cars... only when the government changes regulations do things get re-shufflled. It all boils down to what do you like? and what can you afford? people love california spiders, and all these cars blow them away! but a california spider is worth 10 - 100x more! how can you justify that??? newer will almost always perform better for a lot of reasons, but the only thing that matters is buying what you like within the price range you can afford!! they are ALL awesome! no matter what you get, someday, there will be one that performs better. don't let it bother you. enjoy the one you have! I do not envy the 430, 458, 488, etc. I am perfectly happy with my high mileage 360!
The point that is missing in this is that between the F430 and the 360...there is a gang load of other cars that slaughter a 360 but not an F430. 1. Lambo Gallardo 500hp 2. Porsche 991.1 Carrera GTS 430hp and 991.2 Carrera 420hp 3. BMW M3 and M4 425hp 4. Porsche 997.1 GT3 415hp 5. Porsche 997 GT3 RS 450hp 6. Audi R8 V10 1st gen 500hp 7. E60 BMW M5 500hp 8. Porsche 996 Turbo X50 500hp (Heavy) 9. Porsche 997 Turbo 480hp 10. Nissan GTR 480hp 11. Corvette C6 12. Corvette C7 13. Mustang GT350 Let's not forget about all the daily driver sedans which are faster than the 360. There are not too many cars in between the 458 and F430....especially NA engines.
The point that you are missing is that 360 owners did not buy based on HP ratings or quarter mile times.. come on... LOL
It's definitely not about the HP...it's about the sound! The first time I heard my 360 fire up I was hooked. Check out the sound on this video I recorded: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOuRwTPMo6w Mmmmmmmmmmmm
Reminds me of the time when I got spanked by a Nismo GT-R. He said, "Nice car. I don't see a Ferrari every day." I said, "I do."
Exactly...with all the media and statistics thrown around, sometimes it's difficult to step back, clear your mind and figure out which car do you actually *enjoy* driving more. If you're tracking the car, I can totally understand the enjoyment of the 430/458/488 over the "underpowered" 360. If driving on streets even the 360 has too much power to really use in 99% of situations unless you have a death wish or would like to be locked up. So who cares about faster 0-60 times? I've driven lambos, all sorts of porsches, and various ferraris and really other than the scud I have not yet found one that I enjoy driving more than my 360. Haven't driven any of the classics, but I'm sure some on here say it all went downhill after the 275! A great example is the Huracan, which I found blisteringly fast but (relatively!) boring to drive. I wouldn't even consider trading my 360 for one (assuming I couldn't sell it and pocket the difference!) Different strokes I guess...
At the track, I'd be faster in another car with more technology - even F1... but I absolutely enjoy the package the 360 6mt provides given that its not a competitive race car. I happily spend the extra second(s) every lap driving a car that isn't driving for me. It is a balanced machine - in the larger sense.
I think intentionally or unintentionally he's making the point perfectly. If your goal is to buy a car with the fastest published 0-60 time, or to drag race at stoplights, then a 360 is not the car for you. You may as well buy one of the daily driver sedans he's referring to! But there's not a single car on that list I would choose over a 360. Priorities I guess.
According to the Top gear test track times your list is approx 50% incorrect. Not that your list is of any consequence to a 360 owner.
Way to go off-topic. Who cares is one car is faster than another? There will always be faster cars. Should Enzo owners be sad that a 458 speciale is faster than their cars? I love my 360, if someone offers me a free F430, I'll take it in a heartbeat! If someone wants to trade their identically species F430 Spider for my 360, I'd have to think about it really hard (I know that won't ever happen!). I love my 360 that much. If someone offers a 458 or 488 for my 360 (it'll never happen), I'd instantly say "no thanks". These cars are an irrational purchase, putting numbers and logic besides them is an exercise in futility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
360 owners think alike! I drove a Huracan, and found it very fast but very sterile. I might as well be playing a video game. Great interior though. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Thanks for that. The Scud is the only car on my shopping list..only problem is parting with the 308,or i could save up a little longer and try to have both hmmm but that would only work if the Scud kind of froze value wise for a while, any chance of that happening?
Agree, when the 360 came out I didn't like the look of it at all, but I think the design has really aged well and I prefer the 360 look to the 430.... M
I like data but do no understand this list. The 360 is what? 3.7 seconds 0-60 (let's say it is under 4...and the 430 is ??? Is the list above the cars that fall in between? Here is a fun thing to do. Take the 430 0-60 number and create a percentage for the delta between the two. Then take that number and pop it in the toilet because road banks have not increased by any percentage and the radii of the highway turns have not decreased, nor the straight sections lengthened to allow you to exploit any perceived "improvement". Where I live, they just keep repaving the roads that are already there. I am going to guess that it is the same where you live too. Are you picking up what I am putting down?
Haha, ain't that the truth. Our brave new world in N. Calif is lots of patching and maybe a pavejob just before the point of no return. I have had a couple of each model and a CS as well. The only one I really miss is the Stradale. When the 430 came out I remember much preferring the 360 lines and body but the 430 has grown on me and I like the edgier look as well. In perspective, we are lucky to own and drive either one, so pick what you like and enjoy it to the fullest.
Agree. when the 458 came out I thought the 360 looked outdated. Now I think it's timeless. And more organic/cohesive than the 430. I think it will only get better with age.
