Is the 488 only as fast as a new R8??? Or is there something wrong here.
I was lately thinking of selling my 458 for a 488 but not so sure now!

Can't view it for some reason, but can't imagine any R8 doing a 488 unless something is seriously wrong with the the 488 or the driver.

Not surprised by this as they're a naturally aspirated v10 and all wheel drive. The model in the video is also the R8 V10 "Plus" model that has a little more power than a standard r8 v10. Would be interesting to compare dyno results from both and see what the torque delivery looks like.

The 488 is an amazing car but I would be hard pressed to trade a 458 in for one personally unless you just want the latest and greatest.

Short race . Both cars fast off the line but with NA and AWD lambo /R8 is difficult to beat off the line. If the race were to continue past 1/8 mile the Ferrari would pull it. Just sold my Huracan 6 months ago. Great car but not as fast as 488. Stats say 0-124mph only around 9.8sec on lambo vs 8.3 for Ferrari. Also maybe Ferrari didn't have a good start or use launch control.

Problem with these YouTube races is most are crude and too many unknown variables. I've raced many cars that were slower through the years and lost due to a bad start or being in the wrong gear on a roll or having the other car get the jump on me.

Still can't see the Audi being in the race against 488. Something is not right. The V10 plus gets eaten by the 991 turbo s everywhere. 488 is faster than the turbo S from 0 to 200 by a second and a half. Either that or 488's claimed time of 8.3 0 to 200 is being overstated.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RJenKlCfD0 look from 7:13 onward. The R8 gets demolished.

Pity there is no youtube of a 991 turbo S drag racing a 488. That would tell a lot.

I think its possible the 488 gets beaten off the line by a 610 hp r8 v10+ but the 488 will catch it and pass it. The huracan vs 488 video is a fair comparison since the v10 plus has similar specs

Depends on the drivers of course but they are pretty neck and neck, the new V10 plus is pretty damn quick.

I would hate to be doing my normal cruising at 205 mph only to then find out that an R8 or some other car goes 206. I'd be shattered. :)

That video is more realistic so if 488 was up against Audi V10 Plus Audi would be back even further.

Take a peek at this run between Huracan and V10 plus. Both stock and the Huracan wins even though it appears the Audi got a slight jump at the start. So if 488 can walk the Huracan it can surely defeat an R8 V10 plus convincingly. Maybe from a standing start they would run neck and neck till 80kph then it would be bye bye Audi.

I'd still love to see a run between 488 and 991Turbo S...that would be interesting!

Porsche, Audi and Lambo are all in the VW family. Why would people pay more for a slower car?

    Sometimes they do.

Agree that would be a better match up.

    Thats a standard R8 V10 in the video -550hp.

The Huracan 610-4 and R8 V10 plus are identical cars with identical performance albeit with different personalities.

    The 488 is faster ....

Being the owner of both what's your butt dyno feel?

Sorry just noticed that. But given 991.1tts eats the V10 Plus I would concur 488 would be certainly quicker against V10 plus by a decent amount.

Why did Ferrari make the La Ferrari a na V12 as the flagship of the line?

I think we have answered our own question.

The entry level aka Galifornia T is a turbo. The flagship is na. Think they know something?

Watched a video with Chris Harris comparing the LaFerrari, P1 and 918:

LaFerrari was the best looking and best sounding.
918 has too many nannies. But it is a Spyder. A plus.
P1 is not street legal. And has that super ugly wing abaft.

I should have said the P1 they tested was not street legal.

Couldn't disagree more. And it loses most tests to the 918.
But I'd take the P1 in a heartbeat.

P1 and 918 are actually attainable. Laferrari not so much.
