F1 cars will touch 80k. There are a lot of them out there and it appears the people shopping for used ferraris prefer manuals. Ive already seen 95k 430s in the winter months. 430 f1 spiders will probably bottom around 100
Well Jar Jar... I dont really care what you my purchasing capabililty is. I know what it is and the bottom line is I would NEVER consider that car. (never might be strong... obviously there is a complete bottom feeder number) 2nd... I have my own set of guidelines or vision for cars I purchase. As previously stated. The car has too many miles for me to consider regardless of price (yes there is a price but it is so ridiculously low that I would rather not annoy the seller with an offer... as well... I don't want the car) I don't want that car with that many miles The miles are too high for what I think the market will want in the future. There are MANY extremely low mile cars and since the car isn't the type of car that isn't driven much... many will remain very low. When I go to sell it... there would be too many low mile cars for it to compete with. The price is too high for the miles in MY OPINION. I have been offered much lower mileage cars (single digit mile cars) for not significantly more money. I would rather have those. I get to choose what cars get purchased. the bottom line is... don't really want a red one... and I want a single digit mile car. That car is outside of my interest. So I guess in a way.. yes... you are correct... my pocket book is not up to that challenge. The car wins. My wallet wont go anywhere near that car. Nice car. Great car. Just not for me. Awesome someone drove the wheels off of it.
I agree ferrari can build as many brown 488s as I can order. Ordering one with a manual? If there was enough demand at a price that made sense finaically to ferrari... don't think they wont do it. To your point... they are still building cars... I would never say the "last" of anything if they were still producing cars. The last Cord, the last duesenberg... heck the last pontiac off the line... those things are important. why? because they don't make them. The last 2015 corvette off the line won't matter... because the 2016 is right behind it. How what about the rarity of the brown 360 coupe? No comment on price? I get where you are going and we are on the same page. (no need to respond to the above comment) I think you are more gung hoe on the idea than me... Yes people like 6 speeds. I like 6 speeds. I don't think it will last. I can be wrong. I bought a pencil with an eraser once. (i just heard that joke and thought it was pretty funny)
I would say if one just HAD to have a used driver Ferrari right now a good used 6 speed 360 is as good a place or better as any. I think we are in a small bubble but based on the economy more than anything. So if one could wait a few years to when it sorts out then great. I bought a 996GT2 just as they were beginning to climb a year ago. IMO the right time for this car as I don't ever see it going below that particular point. At the time only one or two cars for sale. Now that prices have risen a bunch there are many for sale.
LOL When Wayne Carini goes to look at 60s Ferraris, the subject of miles seldom comes up because in the end, the demand outstrips supply for truly iconic cars like the CGT.....every car finds an owner. So if you think they would be $2M cars in 10 years, so maybe this one only fetches $1.7M.....you pay $525k now.....geez looks like a nice profit still. Hey man, I'm poor also in the grand scheme of upper end true exotics....nothing to be ashamed of. Nobody expects you can go from a 355 or 456 (the cars in your profile) to a half Million Dollar CGT, just like I can't go from my Lamborghini Diablo Roadster to an Aventador Roadster.
mileage is an issue even on 7 figure stuff, just less of one. ultimately you have to choose whether a day in your life is worth more or less than the mileage ding you might incur. i am a firm believer in living in THIS life, so i put miles on all my cars - i wont be buried in them.
We obviously have different philosophys when it comes to collecting and holding etc... The bottom line is I wouldn't put that kind of money into that car because of the mileage. I would rather pay more money for a car with less miles. Period end of story. don't care what the profit is. I don't want the car. Judging value off of Chasing classic cars isn't the best thing to do. It is a very small glimpse. The daytona spider with 81 miles is worth more than double a low mileage car. Also you are speaking of cars from the 60s. So cars that are 50 years old. Yes in 50 years mileage probably won't matter that much due to age because everything starts falling apart due to age and not use. So you judge the car on the metal in front of you. if you come across the car that was low mileage and well maintained on not neglected that is truly a rare find. Concerning my list of cars on here... I made that like 10 years ago or so... I forgot those were even on here. I actually don't even own those anymore... 10 years ago or whatever it was I didn't see the problem with posting what I owned on the internet. Now... is a different story. I guess thats all part of growing up. PS been there done that with the aventador roadster. Keep your diablo as quirky as they may be... I love that car.
