Has anyone here done it? I much appreciate any instructions. I am trying to avoid another trip to the dealer.

It appears to me that access to the back of lower center front bumper where the wings are attached is behind the front trunk. Any specific potential issues that I ought to know in advance?

Reason: I try to replace them with CF wings.

I'd be interested in knowing what is involved also. I saw on a website that it was not a DIY job and that it required removing the front bumper. I don't know if that is true or not, as I have not done the job first hand myself.

Perhaps you can remove the under panel and again access to the mounting nuts?

From the workshop manual you have to remove front bumper. Its not hard just those clips might break. Manual said 45 min job

it is NOT a 45 min job.... You remove a LOT to get to them.. the front bumper line is shimmed to match the gap with the bonnet.

My spider already had them own else i would have skipped (or paid someone else to do it)

    Best of luck

I heard its a major job too. Chris at Scuderia systems sells OEM winglets for 3100 pair. Thats where I'm going to get my CF when I'm ready. How about the area behind the horse. Does that come in CF also. Looks a little cheap, with the plastic. Haven't heard back from Chris. Anyone done that too? thanks in advance

Major job; I would recommend taking to the dealer or professional shop.

Afaik the front central area behind the horse is not available in cf,
    oem or aftermarket.

As already posted replacing the front aero wings is not a simple job and does take a respectable amount of disassembly to achieve. I would recommend professional installation by a shop that has experience removing the front bumper.

As for the black area behind the horse, that area is integral to the bumper and difficult and costly to do a CF inlay for which explains why many of the manufacturers (ourselves included) have no pursued this product option.

It seems like a consensus that the job belongs to the pro's. With that much work, I am afraid it will take many labor hours. Many thanks to everyone!

if you opt for to have the oem winglets installed and want a different look you could have the central section painted body color as well, it creates a nice detail with the carbon.

I agree that the painted center provides a better contrast, hence a visual highlight of the wings. Was the black strips factory painted? Looks good too. Great suggestion.

If I go ahead with removing the bumper, I definitely will have the center painted in body color. My 458 is also in yellow (giallo modena).
