    14 x 7.5 ARE the optional wheels, standard width of the one piece was 6.5"..

    Looks like you have your answers on the P6 cams, and the 10.5:1 pistons.
    Standard pistons are slightly below 8.0:1, for world market gaso;line, at the time.

    As folks are waring you the P6 is a lumpy beast, it was for extra HP at the extreme top end of the rev range, think Lemans......not a street cam at all.

    16" castings were available in 1977, as we understand it.
    More common were the 16" BBS brand wheels (3 piece).

    16" became standard in the early '80s.
    After the 390mm experiment.

    Thanks Big Tex. Great info. I'm actually coming to houston this weekend to look at the 308 in question. It is a 1979 with what look like a three piece five star wheel with black center Ferrari hub. Does that sound like the BBS wheel? Do you know if they were stamped on the inside.

    Wasn't there something recently where a 308 had an extra badge on the back and racing "clocks" installed on the dash too? Was that part of this package or something else? Forget where I saw it.

    superb info. thank you. This confirms 16" wheels were indeed an option in the late 70s. I believe Speedline were the first supplier, followed by Chromadora only when the QV came around. The Speedline 16" wheels are actually a touch lighter than the Chromadoras. Both are cast magnesium, not forged. Very soft either way

    I will hunt in some old boxes...I have an old xerox of the Italian language letters from Ferrari competition department dated from the mid to late 1970s..

    The kit as you guys a referring it to, was in fact a "suite", and was much more of a competition oriented affair, and NOT a street "hop up kit"

    P-6 cams-with radial pin vernier timing holes a-la-Daytona/c-4/246 cam timing of an earlier era
    BIG pistons
    special rings-3 NOT 4
    valves
    keepers and retainers
    rob bolts
    rod nuts
    Koni shocks
    springs
    bushings
    FULL jet set with charting
    different needle and seats
    chokes
    and so on and so on...
    detailed instructions as to machine shop modifications-not unlike the Factory Porsche stuff in the kit to modify 692/3a(Abarth Carreras) from original 1600/1700 up to the larger 587 2 liter(904) Barrels, pistons and HEADS with longer drive shafts: "for the Extremely experienced and totally well tooled Machine shop"{and I quote} :-}
    AND
    "quick change" double trucked", transfer gears with new cover and a BOX full of gears.
    collotti made these I have been told...on numerous occasions...

    I too have a 76 glass car which had this stuff added after sale by the first owner...

    in the 1970s, this was great(ratty 275GTBs were 10,000 still...), so it was a different time
    Even the "race gas" we get today at 12/gallon has a lower vapor pressure than old days race gas-hell even old time 260 Sunoco had a higher VP....which means that the emulsion tubes will be running too lean at upper rpm and hi-mid range transition,as todays fuel-even at 12/ gallon, is still "heavier" AND IS MORE an alcohol(2,5 iso-pentane variant?)


    P-6 cams: I knew 2 guys who drove their LMs as daily drivers, and we cut cams back even then because it was too obnoxious to drive in traffic with fuel we can only dream about...

    It was a great car in my 20s, I took all of that stuff out, as noted by earlier poster: its no fun as a "street car"

    std. thermal 9.mm lift cams with 272-290 degrees is way plenty for a street car-in my experience...

    Anybody know for certain if that hi po feature really included the P6 profile? I heard of Ferrari offering a "sport" cam which was a "Dino" 272 duration @ .5mm.

    IIRC
    The emission cams (Carb & Inj) are 244 In & Ex w 8.8mm lift
    The Euro & GT4 are 260 In & 254 Ex w 9mm lift
    The V6 Dino is 272 In & ??Ex w 9.X lift (I think >9mm)

    Then there's an interesting 308 Euro which uses 260 In w 244 Ex set up on different lobe centers. Don't know lift. I did a swap from 244 cams to the factory 260/254 setup. Very nice recipe. Good lo-end torque. Pulls nice to redline. Always wondered if the 272 is better, or "Too much" of a good thing? I'd suspect you need to bump Cr as the Dino's had a higher Cr to begin with.

    Does sound like the P6 is a different animal.
