Howdy, Just for those in Mainland Europe: now is a great time to buy LHD cars in the UK, as you both have a discount o due to cheaper sterling and dealerships are a bit scared and give nice discounts so they can get rid of inventory. I spent the weekend making a list of available LHD cars I'd like to add, and there are plenty so thought I would share my experience so far and some tip and tricks. So im the new proud owner of a 456M GT in Tour de France with tan interior! 17,800 miles and purchased new in Sweden by the royal family. It will be the perfect car to take instead of the 550 when I need to go somewhere with friends. So the tip is to make a deposit and get it PPI'd, and the final balance isnt due until 2 weeks from now, so it gives the sterling the opportunity to drop further in all the chaos thats ongoing. If you wait longer, im pretty sure all the nice LHD cars will be snapped up once the sterling dips even lower, so best to act now but postpone full payment until 2-3 weeks. If anyone is interested in a list of LHD cars, PM me and I can share with you my list or website you can look (they are not advertised on Mobile.de or EU mainland websites). Will be picking her up after she receives a cambelt change and service in early July. So stylish, cant wait! Lovely car, congratulations! Could you be so kind as to PM the list of cars you found in the UK? Thanks
For anyone whos interested: Send me your email address, and I will forward the excel sheet. PM is not very handy for this.
Awesome, that's a great buy! Beautiful car and color combo. Enjoy! Please send me your list of lhd cars (Mike of challenge-stradale.com)
Hi . Ive been getting a lot of requests, so I thought I share the cars in the list here: 456M GT ( i already bought that one, so thats gone) 512M ( im in contact for this one myself, so this is left empty ) 550 Barchetta 575 SuperAmerica 575M 16M Scuderia Challenge Stradale 599 GTO GT3RS 4.0 997 GT3 mk 2 996 Vanquish S The list contains 15 cars which i researched and only added if I thought the dealer was legitimate. Dont mail me if you dont like any of the above cars haha Good websites to hunt: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/ ( Select a brand, then put in the keywords field "lhd" and select anything over 50k gbp price, it will show you all nice cars that are LHD...e.g.: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/35/lhd/) Lots of Porsches and Ferraris http://www.theoctanecollection.com/ known dealer with plenty of LHD inventory, heavy on Ferrari's http://www.dkeng.co.uk (lots of LHD cars, also lots of Ferraris and more modern cars) http://www.simonfurlonger.co.uk/ Few LHD cars, mix of all brands, very good service.
A very good point this. Interesting that dealers are worried , as an owner of 2 LHD cars based in UK (575M manual, 456M GT) I don't feel worried at all, in fact quite pleased. The only thing to worry about would be if VAT became payable for a European buyer of one of my cars. As VAT was already paid on them in Belgium and Greece respectively I doubt that will happen. If anything I welcome the chance to sell in relatively strong euros (or mega strong USD for the American spec 456M GT) . To sell in Europe I would sell on Mobile.de or to a Dutch/German dealer or in a Euro based auction of which the big UK houses run plenty. As for my chance of a second home in the US or Balerics, that is not looking so good...
Its all tricky, if more people start offering them the euro price will drop as well. I decided to only buy cars I was planning to buy anyway, so in the worst case if the whole world falls in to recession and we are all again at the brink of financial chaos I can at least just drive the bloody thing
Great resource! When the opposite happened and the euro crashed against sterling 18 months ago, we Brits were doing the opposite. I acquired a couple from Spain and Italy. But we had to do all our own research.. There are BTW a lot of LHD cars recently imported from the continent in the UK right now. Auctions are full of them. A dealer I use and like in Kent, Ferrari For Sale, Ferrari Dealers Showroom Kent UK usually has a couple. And it's very near the tunnel, for your own personal Brexit.
Yes, owner told me he was puzzled it hasn't sold yet. That was last week though. Good people, both he and his wife are ex-race mechanics and have a 550 and F12 as their DDs.
Cars For Sale - 1993 Ferrari 512TR LHD Rosso Corsa That one? Looks nice indeed.... will put that on the list This website also has a LOT of LHD cars: Showroom
Nice car! http://i2.bstatic.de/sites/default/files/styles/article_16x9_960x540/public/danapress-00100768.jpg?itok=ZdCoP7hc King Carl Gustav used it to travel to St. Maxime.
Thank you sir! Hope I can add a 512M in the next few days as well if all goes according to plan. Rule Britannia!
Ah damn, you found out who owned it I was writing up a nice article on the history of this car, so wanted to keep it a secret haha. Ah well... Turns out this King Carl liked the 456 very much. Here is another pic of him with the car he owned prior to the 456M GT, a 456GT Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wish you the best with that purchase. My F512M is a wonderful beast. (She also made a headline, kind of, by being the first three pedal Ferrari driven by the head of publicity of Ferrari north Europe https://mobile.twitter.com/FNEPR/status/735819574969503744 Sorry for the off topic)
Im sorry.... the head of PR at Ferrari hadnt been in a manual Ferrari for over 11 years??! Wow.... I like the weird look of a 512M, and i mean weird in the positive sense. It connects the old miami vice style to the newer 550 models with the fixed headlights. Looking forward to the 512M, keeping fingers crossed!
