Just had my motor rebuilt at Alex Traverso's shop here in Arizona, and Bill at GT Car Parts showed me his new Sandon compressor conversion for the 308. Pretty much clean out your lines bolt it in, charge it up and your off and running. It's light weight, doesn't bog your engine down at all, and blows ice cold, oh yea and did I say it's light weight? Had the car out yesterday in 119 degree weather, AC blows ice cold and the engine never even hints at running hot. Engine is still in the break in period, so didn't run it too hard, but still, I am extremely impressed.

That's a tidy looking conversion bracket.

Hint; lower your window about 1 1/2" and you get rewarded with more cold air flow. And it will be right across you.

Does his kit eliminate the tension-er assembly allowing you to move the compressor to tension the belts. It's much cleaner that way and works great. What freon did you use.

The kit uses all the stock setup, tensioner, shims, belt, just relocates the pump higher. Also used r134. No engineering required :)

To bad , I used one of these brackets and it was great. Takes all of the hardware out and you just do the belt adjustment by moving the compressor. This bracket bolts on to the existing Ferrari bracket. Plug and play.

timely post and the brackets look very neat, I suppose there are choices. I have a '77 308GT4 and have just had the engine removed ready for reconditioning. It was originally fitted with an AC but that has since been removed, which was prior to me purchasing the car. The pipework etc. from the engine bay to the front is in tact and has been tested as ok. I would like to install a Sandon compressor but do not have any of the original engine mounts for the compressor nor the adaptor brackets. In particular ,apart from the adaptor bracket ,which original parts do I require? Looking at parts list page 041 , I expect to require Nos. 7 and 14(with a all the bits shown directly either side of 14 i.e. belt tensioner) but do I also need part No. 8? Are these support brackets available used and is so ,from where?

I would probably talk to Bill or Dave at GT Car Parts in Phoenix Arizona. They offer the kit I have, but also have the largest salvage of Ferrai's in the states as far as I know. They have been a huge help to me, especially since they are local.

I've been thinking about doing this but also interested in trying an Electric compressor. Mounted in the front of the car away from heat and with out the extra line length it should clean things up nicely. The battery / alternator may have to be upgraded but maybe not.
