I was very surprised! 12c has north of 700hp with alpha 7 tune. We raced many times from a roll and a dig. The results were the same every time. Ferrari has almost instant throttle response with better gearing. I honestly would've bet against the 488 as the Mclaren is a very low 10sec car. Tried uploading video but too long even when edited. Bottom line is the 488 pulled the Mclaren every time up to over 130mph. Not sure what would have happened after that as our private strip of road wasn't long enough. My guess is the Mclaren may have caught me and eventually passed me but not until likely 150mph+! In a quarter mile race the Ferrari is very very fast. Also the Mclaren had R888 race tires in addition to the AMS tune. I'm now confident the 488 is as fast or faster than a 650s for those wondering..

Download handbrake and process your video with it. It reduces the file size significantly.

I second the YouTube idea. You can upload it there and post it on here.

From your description on the pulls it sounds like the 488 is going to be a tough car to beat! Looking forward to seeing the videos.

Here you go. Couldn't go very fast here. We did race on a private road and went much faster with the same result. I unfortunately don't have a video of that one .

Now get your 488 tuned. There is a recent thread here: over 70 rwhp added, with another 10 from air filter.

Nope. It was mr sum ting right. AMS tuned it and it was undefeated for over a year. The mclaren is very fast and likely would've pulled the 488 at higher speeds .

Nothing suspect . I took video down for a few reasons (nothing to do with it being legitimate). Believe what you guys want but I have zero reason to make this up. What I said is totally legitimate. The 488 is faster than a 12c and equal or faster than a 650s up to about 130-140. After that my guess is the Mclaren is faster but I couldn't confirm this. Of course the driver and who gets the initial jump makes a huge difference too but we raced 5x with the same results everytime. My thinking is that the Ferrari has better throttle response and shorter gearing making it easier to get the initial jump. The Mclaren being lighter will eventually catch up and pass the Ferrari but not until a high rate of speed (150mph+). We didn't try launch control so that could make a difference too with perhaps the Mclaren being slightly faster. Overall they are both fast cars and I was very surprised at how well the Ferrari did.

I personally never thought it was suspect. I just went to show my son, and it was gone. Out of curiosity, why did you take it down?

The truth is I sold the Mclaren to a close friend . I didn't want him to think I was rubbing it in his face. So I figured before the video is all over the Internet is I'd better take it down. Both cars are really fast. I just wanted people on this forum who were in doubt based on other questionable videos to know that the 488 really is as fast or faster than the 12c or 650s. My old 12c was likely faster than a 650s with both the AMS tune and R888 tires. People on the Mclaren forum were showing older videos that were questionable at best. They were insisting that the 12c and 650s were faster. I did over 5 honest races with passengers and without as well as from a dig and a roll and I now know the truth (for what it's worth) and just wanted to share it with you guys. For those on this forum that don't care that's fine but for those that do I thought it was kinda cool.

I don't think weight plays a big part at those speeds. Aero and gearing are more important.
