Found these little chrome strips in the parts manual (see picture, part 41 and 43). Does anybody have spare ones? Otherwise we will have to remanufacture them.....

    Hello Olaf....

Trim parts for these cars can be a bit difficult to find.. Even if you do find them they
may not fit your car and would have to be worked to make them fit.. You may be better
off making them.. Just a thought!

Prepping the car for paint - countless hours of sanding, grinding and filling. I always have a great deal of respect for the guys who take great pride in getting it right. Sometimes they go mad and the car looks like beeing prepared for banger racing (see picture), but i think that comes free with the job. What i even admire more is a painter who does his second Maserati - most of them won't touch another one with a ten feet pole after seeing the original metalwork on them....

Fantastic to see such good progress. Can't wait to see it with some top-coat on, that's when the project really come alive.

I've just finished polishing and setting the points, plug gaps and tyre pressures on mine ready for the 1,200 mile round trip to the Le Mans Classic. Can't wait for the drive and I bet you can't wait to get yours on the road either.

    Happy days.

I need your help with some colour questions, fellow Mexico people: We are in the final stages of painting the car now. I know that Mexicos were always black in the engine bay and the inside of the cabin, floor pans etc. But which parts exactly are painted in body colour on the inside of the car? B pillars? Sill area? Most of these areas will be covered with trim parts anyway, but i would like to do the paint job correctly. Who can give me some hints?

I hope somebody can help me with the painting questions.

But i received other good news today: Work on the 4.2 engine has finally begun! As i posted earlier i sold my 4.7 engine to another Mexico restorer since i found a 4.2 Mexico engine from #468 which matches my car which left the factory as a 4.2. New liners, tailor made Wahl pistons (standard sized) and all seals and bearings are brand new. I am really excited to see how it grows into the beauty of an engine these V8s really are......

Oh, and by the way: In another post i asked about the very unusual bolts needed for the front brake calipers, they are M11x1. An absolutely strange choice of size, but so fitting to the manufactoring methods of Maserati. I have had them remade at a special shop, very expensive but here they are. Another box ticked on the to do list.....

Looks beautiful, you're going to essentially have a brand new car on your hands when you're done!

Excellent work, good to see things being done properly.

Ok, here we go: Engine got its sump, pulley and flywheel. The heads are currently at the laser welding shop, some little things have to be ironed out.
And finally (drum roll): The first pieces of the car have been painted. The colour looks like expected, a dark silver metallic colour taken from an original Maserati sample panel from the 1970s. Can't wait to see the whole car painted, should be ready next week......

By the way: This is how 46 year old cylinder head bolts look after removal. Frightening, isn't it? I have had them remade to spec too....
