If I can sell a few of these kits, I'll be happy. I know some of the ancillary pieces will be needed....like the end caps. Can't wait to get those going as they will be a huge challenge.

Part of doing this kit is a nostalgia thing....one of the first cars I worked on as a newbie Ferrari tech was an SS car that was converted into a Challenge car. I remember some of the Challenge cars having the SS rear end, some didn't. I remember one of the older guys on the team explaining why some were SS cars and some weren't. I was so overwhelmed with all the info I was taking in that I just filed it away somewhere in my brain....I just knew I liked those '348s with the really cool looking rear tail lights'. Ha.

Thought about doing some small parts....I'm open to anything. I have a really good group of employees and subs....so anything is doable. Let me know if you're looking for something in particular.

It's the only way we know how to do things around here....I'm just glad this is a project we're able to be involved with.

    I agree.

An outstanding job, including the part about taking your time in order to keep the cost down

Have to keep the cost down since the quantity that we might sell is unknown...

This is an interesting pic...this is my employee's rendering of the part we made for the center bracket....we gave it to our water jet guy who outsources putting it into a format he uses. Somehow in sending it out it got compressed slightly and the first run of pieces was just a tad off...

Got a chance to work on the car....the spacer needed some fine tuning as we figured it would. So we have some adjustments ready for the driver's side(we only did the passenger side) once we get that piece in the CNC(maybe this week).

Part of this project was started because my car had some damage to the upper louver on the grille...right side. Pretty sure there is a story with that quarter panel...I know it was repainted. Couldn't have been too major....everything looks straight under the car and behind the lights. Probably a light tap. The upper louver was repaired pretty poorly. Now that we're measuring things and building around that side, we see that my car has about 1/2" difference in spacing on that right side compared to the left. So we'll have to adjust it so it's better fitting...fortunately I can do my repairs so they are hidden by the end cap....which we are going to start shortly.

I have a pristine OEM grille but I don't want to use that one for this project...that's just going to go up in the storage room in case I put the car back to stock. I'll make my damaged grille work....not a huge deal.

Pics of the spacer on the light and light in the car. Good stuff.

Getting there....a few more adjustments and we'll be golden. Then on to the next hurdle....which will probably be involving those end caps.

Do you have any info on the bolts you used to make it through the spacers? Length, pitch, etc?

Desmomini.....We're just using 5mmx1.25(I think) threaded rod for extended studs. I haven't really spent time on that part. I might mess around with the rear cover and how all of that goes together today. I'm hoping I can use the OEM plastic fasteners that hold down the inner cover and secure the tail light thru the metal body. I wish I could see one of these cars in person to see how things were put together. I'm sure it wasn't anything elaborate....

Hopefully this upcoming week we'll start working on the end caps. I think the best part of this project is going to be able to get you some end caps Desmomini so you can get that SS of yours back to the way it should be. Maybe the SS gods will smile upon me and I'll find an SS of my own.....

It's been a lot more labor than I expected. Ha.

Jason-Waiting on getting the guy over to the shop to start on making the end caps...he's got his own projects going on so I might just tackle it myself...then give him the plugs to make the molds. Thinking that might be easiest. The end caps are going to be 100% done without any reference piece to go off...just pics. Challenging.
