A "cheap Ferrari" usually means a high initial added cost to service/repair Ferrari. My point is that upping the price range usually means more and better examples.... lots with low miles between $80k and $100k.

Portfolio funds are discretionary anyway.... never invest money one cannot afford to lose.

I agree, increasing the budget a bit will increase his options exponentially.
that is why I shared my hunting story with him, I regret not getting a couple of those cars and it was because I was looking for the "right one", if I could do it again I would pull the trigger more easily.

7)April 2015 MY CAR 360 Spider 2003 Red/Black with red inserts 22k miles, Ferrari of Seattle performed the PPI and everything was perfect, where did I find this car??? HERE!! from a fellow fchat member who was taking care of his car instead of trying to make a quick buck.

I paid way more for my car that I offered for all others, BUT it was in perfect shape and even though 360s have not gone up in value like the 550s I drive the car all the time and I do not care about value, I just care about DRIVING!!!

Morale of the story, be patient and (if you can) find a car HERE!!!
FERNANDO is out F-chat's doctor of tires and other things. I wrote like 30 lines and all of sudden disappeard so I am writing again.

THE VERDICT IS "FERNANDO NAILED IT"

I am with Fernando in this part 100%. "I just care about Driving" You get your satisfaction, laugh and fun while driving your vehicle. I would love to drive a LaFerrari if I could but that became out of my line after an incident. So I handle the way what I can handle one day at a time... Driving a vehicle that is hassle free is priceless.

When I saw my 430 Spider at my local dealdership with just a friendly visit without thinking I would take a Ferrari out today, I loved the color combination (Grey Silverstone), my wife loved it (Which is very important as well) and I just wanted to get it out of the the showroom. I did not even do the PPI as my local mechanic works with me and the dealership and he has built a such reputation that he will not trick you on anything. I have trust in my both dealer (Specific one person) and my mechanic. I took the car in 2 days and love driving it ever since.

My vehicle purchasing pattern was very simple for 30+ years. Whatever I liked, I bought it brand new and drove it as much I could before warranty expired. Some cars, I only drove it less than 10K miles and sold them. Biggest hit I have experienced was CL65 AMG, Maserati Spyer, Cayenne TurboS and few 911's. 911 Turbo and TurboS kind of hold their values better than C4S and others IMHO. When I met my current wife, she taught me few things but opened my eyes that I could save lots of money on cars (I had 7 cars in my garage with 3 motorcycles when I met her). She introduced me to second hand(?) car buying experience and told me to let the first ones take the majority hit. Well I do not do 100% but became to keep cars longer than before and study before buying a car. What a new experience. A nasty divorce would downgrade you from LaFerrari to F430...puhahaha.

Good luck finding your Ferrari. In the meantime, I am going to PM Fernando for his advise on few cars. I am looking for one myself at the moment.

Have a great week.

All that makes a lot of sense, unless someone is looking for a specific model, with specific features.

If it's just an appliance ( no disrespect sometimes I wish I was able to do this) then and it doesn't matter which type you get (TR/550/360 coupe/spider, even Porsche ) this philosophy works.

Unfortunately I tend to want and seek very specific stuff and get attached to and usually keep them around.

I learned if you have a narrow list you must be willing to move fast when it fits for you.

This statement is exactly what I was looking for. Last week I was searching for the 'best Ferrari for the buck.' I clicked on this forum. I found a thread with helpful comments and info. I was getting excited because of the prices quoted and predictions mentioned until I realized the thread was from 2011. But I have to give credit where credit is due, many of your (forum) predictions have come true regarding the 360 and the like. So clap, clap.

My question now is, since the 360 has already bottomed, what models are bottoming out over the next couple of years that have great potential to come?

TIA

There still seems to be some downward pressure on 430 F1s. 3-pedal, you've missed that boat. There are well sorted 430s that appear to be had in the very low $100k range. Even better now than just 9 months ago I think.

I suspect that the 458 will continue to depreciate just don't have any idea how fast or to what bottom. There are so many more of these on the market compared to 430 and 360, but the speed of depreciation is hard to gage.

If you want an F1 360 I do believe that now is still a great time to buy as there are many specimens in the very low $60k range and that number has been very stable in the last 6 months or so.

Best wishes on your hunt!

Specifics=$ A Rosso Corsa 360 with a beige interior and gated manual is going to be more desirable than this :)

I wouldn't be surprised if this goes even lower...but that may be a bit far for a good deal..

There is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari. You can pay today or tomorrow. Sadly, more often than not, you'll pay today and tomorrow.

My best advice is to pay up for a good car on the front end. You'll be glad you did.

Following the basic principle of newer costs more, keep your eyes on the market trends of each model series. Meaning, F355s tend to be priced below the 360, the F430 above the 360, and the 458 more than the F430. Another thing to keep in mind is depreciation - figure that 50 percent to 60 percent and it tends to stabilize... as I have casually observed with F-cars.

It's not a science, but general guidelines since mileage tends to skew the group and there are always outliers.

..And that's $0.10 (F-car premium added).

Just ask them to open and close the top not once... but lets say 3-4 times in a row. ;)

Miles and color and top "issues" usually result in that kind of pricing.

I would never want to open the top. That interior is hideous. I'd have a lot of trouble even paying 60k for it.

Yes, and that F1 360 will most likely be any of the ff:
pre-2002
"high" mileage
unsorted; needs something (worn clutch)
condition 3 or 4
not Rosso
etc

I've seen plenty with recent clutch service and service records, I'd rather have one that's been driven more than 1k a year so everything rubber isn't rotted, and since when is "not rosso" a defect? Sure it's the most desirable color, but from what I've seen, this list isn't to totally accurate.

Not Rosso isn't a defect. Where did you get that from? I don't think that is what is being said here. Red = most easy to sell if/when that time comes for you. This is important for many people.

He's just saying rosso sells for more money on average. If you find a car for low 60's, it will have one of the "issues" on that list. In other words it won't be a low mileage rosso in perfect condition that needs nothing. I'd agree with that.

A friend of mine bought a rosso gated with tan interior 360 for $41k.

The car has 20k miles, showroom condition (Except the custom wheels) and PPI came back with no major issues. Just need both rear tie rods and engine mount.

The catch is it's Salvage Title. The low price and great PPI results convinced him to buy the gated 360. Not to mention it's a stick shift.

I think he got a great deal for a gated.

renman95
OK. My 2 cents here.

For O/P, if you think the interior is hideous on 360 that you do not have intention to even open the roof, you aren't looking to buy a Spider. Spiders normally cost more than Modena anyway. I looked at the car that you shared the link. It looks like a decent car but blue interior is not something lots of people would go for. I am not saying it is bad. When you resell your car, Rosso Corsa with Tan will be the combination lots of people would look for. Mine is Grey Silverstone with matching color wheels and I bought it because I liked the color combo. People are different. What I am trying to say is your resale value might be higher with Rosso Corsa or higher demand color combos.

In the meantime, you should ask the dealer about "Ferrari 101" Clutch life, when the major was done, service records, I believe water leaking (Rain or car wash) is a common issue for 360 so you should look into that as well.

Again, you could find a Ferrari that matches your price point but most likely you will have to perform some sort of service to make the car in mint condition. That is the difference between a F-car and others. Your constant attention is needed for F-cars, otherwise, these Italian babes will have temper issue on you. I am also looking into a 360 as well at the moment for my wife's errand car. As I started to look around, it is not easy to find a well sorted one less than $80K at the moment and the price is not going to decrease. Even F355's are on the rise.

In regards to the other question above, I think the model that is in the fastest decline mode is "California" IMHO. No offense for Cali owners but the market looks that way. They produced lots of this model and market reaction is saying it is not holding the value as other models. I would not be surprised if I see a Cali in sub $100K mark in a year while other models such as 355, 360 will increase where 430 will be stablized for a while.

We already see lots of 458's in the market but it is very difficult to predict as consumers have mixed signals on 488 being a turbo car. (Turbo cars have been a trend for every car manufacturer)
If you go to 458/488 section, you will see the debate a lot.

Ferraris are different than other cars. You must accept that before getting into one. Getting the car with lower price doesn't really mean anything. Most of us here including myself will pay extra for a well sorted car with history than just looking at numbers. It could hit you in the back of your head. I just do not want you to become a Ferrari hater.

There's a one 17 year old kid on youtube, created his channel called JR Garage, boasted he has numerous cars plus he bought a F355. On the very first day, the car broke down. It went to an Indy, cleaned all the sensors but found out that the clutch had 9% or something like that left. He did not do the Ferrari 101 and got hammered at the end. A good example for a Ferrari if you do not do the homework. He might have gotten a great deal to get the car but had to pay to get the car in good shape in the first week. It happens and we have seen it around.

Please keep looking and share your thoughts and lots of people here will respond for your questions. I have already gotten few tips as I personally started my own search for a 360.

Good luck and let's get a nice 360 you like soon.

Hi Kevin,

I agree with you 100%. Rosso Corsa comes to a lot of people's top of minds when they think of Ferrari and we saw the production numbers for Rosso Corsa before 458, which was over 60% I think? I am not sure but that one color was substantially dominated for the production. For 458 and 488, we see lots of white, black and other cars..

I would love to find a nice Rosso 360 modena or spider as my 430 is Grey Silverstone but obviously prices are higher than others. I just started to research this week.

Here you go. $10 lower than your target budget. I would imagine you can negotiate this down to mid 50's.

The car has been driven though but ask for complete maintenance records and if it's all there then maybe your first Ferrari.

Kind of strange how several people state that you can get a 360 for $60K or less, but nobody on this forum has stated "I got mine for less than $60K"

For $60K (or less) you are going to get something nobody else wants (color wise), that shows signs of major wear and tear or something bad like a salvage title. You are either going to pay now or later.
