+1 Saw a really nice 2012 V8 Vantage - black over beige, black wheels - convertible - at a local Benz dealership while dropping the wife's car off to be cleaned. About $75 K. Looked really nice. Then a V12 for road trips. AM of Dallas has a silver/black 2011 Rapide for $95 K. Leaves me a few bucks for taxes, gas, etc...T
DBS Volante with an manual for $140ish. Great car and relatively rare with a stick. The Graziano transaxle is a joy. DB7 GT for $60ish. These cars are poised to go up in value in time and a credible alternative to a 550 for less than half the cost. Both have a superb exhaust note...
$200k? 1. V12 Vantage ~$100k - 6spd sportscar 2. Vanquish S ~$100k - paddles GT (manual preferred, but as Andrew noted you'd have to hunt for one and they seem to be well over $100k once done)
where are all these (good condition) Vanquish S's for $100k? I see tons of "standard" Vanquishes for $75-125k but the only S that I could find listed was $240k (a few others had POA/no price listed). I love those and thought about recommending them but they seem to be $250k+ right now. there's one at AMNE for $295k.
There were three S that were sitting for months in the $86-95k range. I had them saved on cars.com when I was shopping through the winter. Regular Vanquishes haven't really moved it appears, so I can't imagine the S went up crazy.
Late Vanquish S (MY2006) are more expensive... the average is around $120k. But yes recently there were 3 Vanquish S (MY2005 with the old dashboard) at less than $100k.
+1 for me...their GT models are just too big for my taste. I'm sure they're nice but I like the idea of a smaller car with a big engine.
FFS ladies. I get particularly tired of reading inexperienced and uninvested commentary on the Vanquish or Vanquish S gearbox. For starters the box is a 6 speed Tremec. Exactly the same bullet-proof unit as any Corvette or indeed most high-powered Americans in recent history. It is actuated by Marelli electrics - exactly the same kit as any Maserati, Lambo' or Ferrari of the same era. This isn't rocket science nor witchcraft; merely a commercialised shifter of the era. The later VQS magnetic upgrade (again Marelli) solved all of the earlier first-mover problems. In any case, the early setup properly tuned was not an issue IMO. I have personally owned a 599 Ferrari as well and have driven most of the newest double-clutch brigade. THESE ARE MANUAL BOXES ACTUATE BY ELECTRIC MEANS. I can assure all-comers that the VQS gearbox held its own in its era and was not an issue. I have many cars and in fact sold my 599 and kept my VQS after 3 years of owning both for many reasons..... the gearbox wasn't a consideration. I like Jeremy Clarkson. He was and remains however completely and utterly nakedly wrong on this issue. The man, whilst entertaining, charming and accomplished in his own right, couldn't operate a f** clothes-line and wouldn't disagree with me face-to-face. That the BBC and he made $$ from his theatrics is uncontested. moving -on, IMO the VQS manual bastardisation is just that The New factory backed automatic conversion is for soft-cocks IMO also. Want either variant? - buy a DBS. I have no doubt that in 20 years time it will be the original which will command the big money in the market - just like it always has in every other marque. For that matter, it already does.... Back on topic, I'd buy my VQS again and would choose an early manual V12V as well for a thrasher for my US$200k Cheers
I'd prefer my current line up - a late Vanquish S (with the paddle shifters, off course!) and a 1st gen DB9 Volante. Sent from my spaceship via Tapatalk.
I see a nice low mileage DBS here for under 110K! Cars for Sale: Used 2010 Aston Martin DBS in Coupe, COSTA MESA CA: 92627 Details - Coupe - Autotrader
A great spread of AM options. Most at relative bargain prices. The Vanquish S may be the most collectible and special for its time...but the interior just doesn't do it for me. And I like open top cars best. Of the modem cars, the 100 or so V12 vantage roadsters with the manual transmission (non-US) would be the most interesting and perhaps collectible...
@JOHNNY : MY2006/2007 Vanquish S interior is pretty nice though... here is a picture. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Okay to post links? '02 DB7 Vantage, six speed manual, 66,000k, $28,000 (this would probably be somewhat of an investment, as it has a relatively rare manual transmission and is at the bottom of its price range): https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/671001311/overview/ '06 DB9 Volante, six speed manual, 20k miles, $60,000 (for the girlfriend/wife, whenever I find one): https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/652088603/overview/ '06 V8 Vantage Coupe, six speed manual, 31k miles, $55,000: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/632829628/overview/ '07 V8 Vantage Roadster, six speed manual, 40k miles, $46,000: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/663146114/overview/ Four manual Astons for $189,000? Yes, please!
First I've got to make $200k Unfortunately, the V12 Vantage and manual DBS (my favorite Astons) are impossible to find for under $120,000, so it's pretty much one of those and one of something else at that point. I figure the manual DB7 and definitely DB9 Volante should increase in value due to the manual relative rarity of the manual gearbox in those models (especially the DB9 Volante, as one listing of a manual DB9 Volante notes that only 5% of all DB9s were equipped that way). The V12 Vantage Roadster (non S) would probably be the most desirable of all Vantages, but those are almost impossible to find anywhere at any price. Turns out that the DB7 I linked in my last post has already been scooped up, so I guess I'll have another go at it and get a "more desirable" Aston '09 DBS, six speed manual, 9.5k miles, $130,000: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/671750948/overview/ '09 V8 Vantage Roadster, six speed manual, 17.2k miles, $63,000: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/673012930/overview/
