Well, another shooting right in my back yard a couple days ago. 2 killed 18 wounded, and I bet it didn't even make the news in your neck of the woods.

Teenagers. At a dance club. No alcohol, just dancing and fun. Bunch of kids at the party get into a disagreement on "social media" with some other kids not at the party.

Non-party guys drive to club, wait for it to close and crowd to empty into the parking lot and proceed to shoot up the crowd.

3 arrests at this time of "persons of interest" and no one who was at the party is talking about it, except in very general terms.

This is the 4th MASS SHOOTING in Fort Myers, FL in the past 2 years. (Mass shooting defined as five or more victims, dead or wounded.) Ft. Myers is 20 minutes south of me.

This **** is out of control. Florida loves guns. WE LOVE THEM. but in this case, kids who aren't old enough to buy guns legally had PLENTY of them to shoot the place up.

Party had armed security, but apparently they didn't really know what to do in this situation.

Lehigh HS star among 2 dead, 18 others shot outside Fort Myers nightclub | WINK NEWS

what the hell does a country do to solve this kind of problem? I dunno.

Can you imagine this much patience being shown towards an African American at a rally?

Hell, could you imagine the outcry if African Americans were going to rallys and openly carrying in the same manner the pro-Confederate flag attendees do?

The open carry gun nuts out there give regular gun nuts a bad name. These guys are zealots. I'm surprised more of them have not ended up dead at rallies like this. They are proponents of a practice that has no logical application.

In Florida, it's illegal to open carry. In Pennsylvania, it's ok for ANYONE to open carry. The laws, state to state vary wildly, and make it tough for law enforcement.

    Well, not exactly.

Our system is simple. Unless specified by Federal Law, all other laws shall fall to the individual states. Specifics as to gun ownership, for instance, are not outlined in the Constitution, so that falls to the states to define individually, within the broad brush right to bear arms that the 2nd Amendment theoretically guarantees, and court cases that have defined the limits to state power.

So, the theory was that the power would be decentralized, and subject to state control. Of course there are a ton of exceptions, the most notable being covered by the interstate commerce act. But anything involving crossing state lines, is, by necessity, governed by Federal Law. So, buy a gun in Virginia, take it to Delaware illegally, and you violate Federal laws that govern the transportation of firearms across state lines.

Marriage laws used to be defined at the state level. However, now there's a Federal ruling (courtesy of the Supreme Court) that marriage is a right guaranteed to all who are foolish enough to undertake it. There's no limit as to race, sexual orientation, etc. However, marrying a goat is still illegal.

How was I supposed to know we were both related?
Believe me, if I knew she was my cousin we never would have dated
What to do now? Should I go ahead and propose
And get hitched and have kids with eleven toes
And move to Alabama where that kind of thing is tolerated?

And you might just STFU and piss off out of the Aussie section , you have no idea what any of this was about and neither do we but we do something about it, unlike you lot that continue to shoot each other at an alarming rate compared to the civilised world.

While you're cherry picking media crap , try this :

Governments spend twice as much on Aborigines - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

No-one gives me any handouts, I keep digging into my pockets for taxes to pay for this inequity

America just killed off all the indigenous population and confined them to reservations .... job well done

Yes, the abuse is an abomination and there are lots of things need fixing in Aust, but at least we've fixed one thing and can walk in our streets without being afraid of being shot. That's worth something, IMHO.

Baron Cohen and Mike Moore couldn't be more correct about FWits like you. As for taking care of your own problems? You don't seem to be doing such a good job of it. Now go play in the little kids rooms, and stop annoying the adults.

And it's a good sign that when something like this comes to light that our PM immediately commits to take action rather than politicians pretending there is no problem.
