Hello everyone, after driving a F50 I decided to test drive a TDF which also happend to be sitting in the dealership and I also loved it. Would it be sensible to buy a F12 TDF and use it as a Daily Driver? I put over 10k miles a year on most of my cars. Or would I be better off waiting for the next V12 to come out.

    Thank you, Logan

I would get a 599 and drive it as a DD, they've depreciated to a point that it would be sensible in getting one to use as a DD.

TDF I would keep for special occasions and so is the F50.

Depends on how long for. There was a 599 gto that did over 100k km. If depreciation is a concern than a normal f12 could do the job as well.

I'm curious, where in the world does there just happen to be a TDF sitting there, and available for a test drive?

It would not be sensible to use TDF as daily driver. Not what this car is intended for.

I too would like to test drive a F50 and TDF back to back...? Where might this dealership be located...?

A 599 as a daily driver is a bit rough IMO. I could see a F12 more as a daily driver.

The only place I know of that has TDF's in their showroom is Ferrari of Orlando. Buddy of mine was just there on business and photographed two or three of them, two 458 Speciale Aperta's, and a LaFerrari that remains covered.

It's like having a 430 Scud or daily use instead of a normal 430. A true petrolhead would drive the Scud all day...however, that thing can become tiring at some point.

    A bizzare post indeed.

There can't be too many dealerships with an F50 priced at $2.4milion (based on the OP's other thread in the F40/F50/Enzo/Laf forum).

It's located in Germany, unfortunately I couldn't find any F50's in a spec that I like in the USA. It seemed like the dealer wanted to get rid of their cars.

Also, I've never owned a Ferrari before, so I'm not exactly sure how one would do as a daily driver. Would I be better off with a normal F12?

There was one dealer in Germany I came across during my 16M search who claimed to have an FXX K / TDF available. When I pressed on the latter, no physical car was forthcoming, so I discounted it and moved on. They also had 2 F50s when I visited. Maybe there is more substance to this than meets the eye.

Hell I would daily drive a TdF, why not! I know people think I am crazy, but I wouldn't buy anything you don't plan on using a lot. TdF would be perfect, plenty of space and the golf clubs can fit in the trunk! haha

One certainly could use it daily but it's not very fun. The biggest unfun reason is that the car sounds brilliant when the pipes open up. So this means you need to accelerate and get past about 4K rpm or about 30 mph. But since it sounds so good you want to keep going. But you can't because you're surrounded by Prius's.

If you don't care about depreciation or that its not AWD (I don't know what your weather is like) then why not ? TDF, like 599 GTO, is a RWD GT car. GTO can be a DD so why not TDF. Granted these are rather "extreme" DD's but to each their own. I previously used a 458 Italia as a DD (for 2 years) and it was just fine - quite comfortable actually. Besides the depreciation I'd only question the sanity of driving a TDF in harsh (ie. NY) weather conditions (meaning that the TDF, like the GTO, probably a VERY poor choice for icy cold roads unless you go to snow tires). Gotta say it would take a serious set of balls to truly DD a TDF all year long in the NY area.

One thing we already know about the tdf is that it is not the car for wet roads or cold tyres, and that to me rules it out as a DD, certainly in the UK.

I test drove a 250 GTO and NART spider back to back and now I'm thinking of getting a LaFerrari spider, would that make a good daily driver?

I would dispense with the TDF and get a LaFerrari. Just make sure it has the Homelink option and the LED steering wheel.
