Looking over his old posts he said he was a mechanic not a driver.

Thank you very much for doing this. I'm quite shocked and of course very saddened by this news. Ian will be missed for sure.

I got banned with Ian some years back and we were at loggerheads over something stupid but when we both got back on we became good fchat mates and he offered to buy me a drink , but I think it will be me buying him the drink if there is an after-life.

I really enjoyed his candour and respect for specific people like Michael , his insight and understanding of the efforts of ALL the teams ......... we did agree immensely on our dislike of McLaren :)

Rest well old mate and rest assured the Scuderia will rise again and I'll have a toast to your good self

    Cheers

    John

    RIP Fast Ian.

I don't post much at all, but I read the F1 forum a lot. Which means I read you a lot, as so many others must have done. Thanks for all the wonderful posts.

In the faceless world of the internet this thread in itself is a wonderful tribute: that people cared enough to ascertain the reason for his departure

You are all an unusual group. FastIan helped me, a noob, with my questions. All of you searched for FastIan.

I am sorry that FastIan died: I am glad I had a brief over-the-Internet connection with him. I am sorry that FastIan's death has caused you sorry and made a hole in each of your lives. I am glad that I have an over-the-Internet connection with you who care.

Father, grant mercy to FastIan, his family and to all of his friends here on FerrariChat.

RIP FastIan. One of the genuinely nice posters in the F1 forum and clearly well respected. So sad to lose quality from the team, but his posts will remain as a lasting record of his insight, wit and charm.

Thanks Fresh for taking on a journey you didn't need to take. Respect.

    Guys,

I did also leave a note behind, expressing condolences on behalf of all of the fchat community and also whether if we could pay our respects and help in any way. I left my personal contact information and if I hear back I will pass it along to any of you who would also be inclined.

I guess it says a lot about a person you never actually met that when something bad happens you are truly saddened by their passing. I guess I never realized how someone here can become what I would consider a friend. I am truly saddened by the news. RIP and I will miss your insight and knowledge. One less person to learn from is a terrible loss. :(
