Thanks I need to buy a few since that's the F50 we bought! I think it's a very special car based on who raced it and that it won.
I think you can find some of the models on Ebay quite easily. To be fair, the Macau event we organised wasn't really a race, more of a high speed "parade". We put this on so a selection of our "gentlemen" clients could drive their cars on a race circuit. The authorities allowed us to put the show on with no requirements for competition licences or any form of vehicle modification beyond a hand held fire extinguisher! The selection of cars was quite varied, plenty Porsche 911's, Ferrari 308's, a Maserati Bora, couple of 512BB's, even a Lotus Elan +2. I think we had a full grids each year, 25 cars. There were no podium prizes allowed because technically it wasn't a race. But truly, the good old days, no way could you do such a thing in this age. Please PM me if you want to make contact with Charles Kwan.
I havent found a working link yet. I remember seeing it back in 1997 on a vhs. If i find working links i will share it here.
I found a copy of the race from Duke DVD. It shows the race grid mostly of 911s RS, turbos and some GT2s. The F50 won by a large margin over 26secs. The comintator takes about the factory helping Kwan set up the car and gave him some parts to insure victory. They had a podium, trophy and champagne. I have the video to prove it... it seamed like they where actually racing as they had guys getting in accidents throughout the race. The race went for longer then the formula 3 race second segment. I will try to upload some of the footage to YouTube or instagram
That was probably a longer version than what i saw which was a Ferrari yearbook but on VHS. Looking forward to the footage.
Here is video of the race. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z0ec3m7hmQM_t1D-uIHpZTMAoy3r7tEQ/view?usp=sharing
Awesome. The footage i had seen had some boring music..It's nice to be able to hear the screaming V12!! Amazing to see it being driven as a race car! Thanks for sharing.
