I'm lusting after a DBS and although there are a couple of threads about them my question seemed to sort of hijack the OP's intent in those - so here's a new one.

I realize that there are a lot of comparison cars - and I know the Vanquish, V12 Vantage, and DB9 all have their merits - but for me it's a three pedal DBS coupe - period.

I'd opt for a 2012 (Garmin GPS and a few other updates) DBS coupe with the 6-speed manual. Not the ultimate or carbon editions - I prefer the original wheels, bright grill, etc. I'd like to see the Casino Royale and Quantum Silver paint in person, otherwise Jet Black looks great in photos (but a PITA to take care of I'm sure). Lightning Silver seems very popular, I guess I'd have to see that in person too. Obsidian black with the piano black finish on the inside seems to suit the car as well.

Do we think the '09-'12 DBS has fully depreciated now? They seem to be holding around the $125+ range. Does the 007 provenance and the 12 cylinders = collectability/increasing value for the DBS?

Here is my view on this business of value and depreciation.
First and foremost buy the car you want for you. You are doing that by chosing the DBS, regardless of potential future apprecaition. Get something you will enjoy the most prior to inspect fully all 4 corners of a pinebox for eternity.

Second take the bright side of the deal since you cant be sure of where in the curve a car is. If you buy early and hold, you will have the benefit of owning a car earlier thus less butchered or with a shady history. that should make up for a time laps in value.
If you buy later, you timed the market. congratulation! Get the best car you can afford.
If you are too late you missed it and will be crying.
So i say go for it over the coming year at your leasure if you can fund it. These cars will still depreciate may be 20 -30k like the VQ but again you will have more choices and better cars now. (Cavehat my assumption is that you are gonna hold the car for at least 5 years from now)

I feel the DBS has reached bottom,, I've never seen a '12 6-speed, that has too be the rarest find to hope for, I've seen one 2011 couple years back, in Calgary a month ago they had an '09 silver 6-speed for $175Kcdn, approx. $132k us, it was gone in a week! the manual is the money maker down the road, Vanquish S is another money maker coming however some are plagued with problems, the DBS is far superior build, I wouldn't get too picky about color either, when they staet to move in price it'll be quick imo,, the 007 thing is irrelevant imo,,

Excellent points Countachqv. It's easy to get wrapped up in the financial side of the decision and try to time it so you don't buy while there's still a long downward trend to follow. As long as it's a "keeper" car for at least a while it sounds like sooner rather than later would be the time to put one in the garage. I'm just hopeful that of the "Gaydon Era" cars the 6-sp DBS coupe will start to increase in value over time. (Probably more to justify to the wife "see honey, this was a good purchase" than anything ;-)

Interesting...what does the modified fascia look like? The original is kinda frumpy, if I'm honest.

Choose your color and buy today! :) This is a lot of car compared to any reasonably comparable F-cars for a fraction of the cost. Might not be exactly an apples to apples comparison, but no one on this thread cares. Everyone that i have talked to loves theirs.

For me, I am holding out for a DBS Volante with a manual. Till then, my DB9 is plenty fine... (hey...that could be a song "She's real fine, my DB9. My six-speed, dual-throttle body, posi-traction DB9.") :)

Jezzus, don't get a dime-a-dozen, boring black, gray or silver DBS with a suicide-black interior. Get something that is unique and will hold its value. Buy this green one: Aston Martin DBS DBS | eBay

Green aston are spectacular. not sure thou about that green unless seeing in person. Still I am 200% with you. too many Silver & Grey aston with Black interior. to get an out of range color (not a shade of silver, shade of grey or shade of black) you gonna have to take it very early.

I agree on going with a color that pops...especially for the interior. Problem with this car? Not a stick...

If you like green, check out post #57 in this thread:

Miller Motorcars. I have had a few good experiences buying parts for the DB7 from them. And my 550 was purchased new there as well.

This looks like the perfect DBS Volante - if someone likes the colors. I don't like them at all. Just got done painting a silver car blue. Personally, I would ideally like a blue or white car with some two tone leather action going on in the interior. 6 speed of course...

Do you like the combo? What type of wood do you have? Mine is bamboo. I only bought it because of the manual transmission, but everyone likes the look...and it has grown on me.
