Exactly! The Carrera GT is a dragon and the 918 is a Romulan war bird. (see Dan Neil's review of the 918 in the WSJ)
I've tracked my old F430, my old Huracan coupe, my 488GTB, my wife's 911 turbo s (both stock and upgraded). Spent time with the car just messing with it yesterday. It behaves like a race car. But, I thought tonight on the way home "this is the most connected I felt to a car in a long time. On a related not, looked over and babe 1/4 inch of water holding in the passenger floorboard. Heard maybe AC drain line. Any quick fixes I can do at home for that or is that a dealership thing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AC drain lines drain should be routed below the car. There is also the coil that if freezes over due to a clog or other malfunction will freeze over and form condensation around it. Definitely a dealer thing.
Don't know if there are electronics on the passenger floor (many P-cars have them). Soak it up and don't use the A/C until you get it fixed.
Google StreetView is really handy to assess speed bumps, curbs and driveway angles on the street. Compared to my F50, the car is just as low and the nose is almost as long. As a result there is perhaps 4 degrees of rake that it can clear. It will high center on aggressive speed bumps so you don't want to damage the carbon undertray. There is no front end lift on the car so you need to be really careful. If I haven't gone to a place before I will scope it out in streetview to see if the car can make it.
I owned one for about a year, it was, for me, like driving a 3/4" sheet of plywood with casters on the corners and 612HP. The clutch is the size of a desert plate but 3 inches thick, so no throttle until clutch engages from standing start, practice in parking lot or driveway. Extremely stiff car, extra caution in the wet and below 60 degrees with cold tires. Below 60 degrees and raining? Take the Range Rover.
No Range Rover for me... First time I drove a CGT was from the seller's place to mine. It was 200 miles in 50 degrees and rain. The car felt very responsive and powerful, but nothing worrisome like the skateboard you described. After thousands of miles, the CGT remains an absolute thrill and probably the best driver's car ever made. Just very important to be running on current Michelin Supersports instead of the original 10yr old tires. It is a light weight 600+ hp car with minimal electronic intervention, built in the spirit of a 1960s F1/Le Mans car. And needs to be treated accordingly with respect. The CGT can bite your head off if provoked, but not otherwise...
Driven the car more over the last few days. Car runs really nice. Slowest sports car I own but i didn't realize how much i missed the driver engagement that comes with a third pedal and a traditional manual. The car is absolutely marvelous to drive. Only problem is stupid and expensive thoughts like "if the carrera gt is this good and enjoyable, how amazing must a 918 be?" keep creeping into my head. Also. Does anyone know of anyone who has successfully added some sort of aux plug routed into the glove box so they can occasionally play an iPod through the stereo? I guess you could just throw a really small 12v powered fm modulator in the glovebox and connect your iPod to it but that seems kinda hokey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If the car has a 12V their is a plugin that sets a radio frequency with your phone and the car that can be played as an fm station.
