I have a lowly MGB, highly modified and an older Saab. I love these cars.

Were those oversized shields a factory option on the GTO ?

I can't say for sure, but I would highly doubt that. It looks as if the car was probably specced through TM so I would assume it was part of that.

The oversized shields can also be found on some Aperta and of course the 599XX. They are painted under the clear coat

How do you know that the oversized shields are painted under the clear coat as opposed to being just a custom decal (ie. a vinyl decal which could be easily removed) ? If its an original spec GTO I'm sure they are painted (as Nelson said via TM) but just interested.

It was also done on the Alonso 599s.

Thanks for the video its very cool. Even after watching the video I still can't tell if the larger shield is partially a decal or 100% painted on. To my eyes it appears as if the shield was part paint and part decal although that is probably just my eyes playing tricks on me. I still like the smaller non-painted carbon shields on my GTO. I think the big "painted" shields only make sense on the "historic livery" GTO's but thats just my opinion.

It looks like it was air brushed through a number of different stencils to get the finished product, but all paint. The front pillars were also paint. The hood stripes etc were decals. Agree that it suits only historic livery options and paint schemes. I love how proper livery is underneath the clear coat.

It's still a shame that the orange peel shows up in the vid once the clear coat has dried. The car looked absolutely spectacular the shot before, than the plastic covers went on and voila orange peel.

Really? Both were taken roughly in Tokyo and Kyoto and they both have the same different shade of white on the roof line, at least from b pillar to c pillar. Maybe the first photo is the same car with the complete GTO kit? The differences seem to be the chrome grill on the front bumper and GTO rims.

Did the gtb and GTO share the same headlights?

Nice little vid in some quite picturesque settings. It's cool to find out the inspiration for the livery even if it is above the clear coat:). Although flat coloured livery on metallic paints don't really work as the lighting doesn't flow uniformly across the whole car. That sound is automotive art.

Any clues on the metallic red name? Very nice spec even if the white mirrors look somewhat silly to me.

I agree with Maseraticorse here. What leads you to possibly think it's the same car? Tokyo and Kyoto are different cities many miles apart. Japanese like white Ferraris. Most characteristic difference is the side skirt and front bumper, both GTO on the 1st one. The 2nd is a plain GTB with its wheels, skirt and front bumper.

I have no idea but if I had to guess I would say it looks like a triple layer Rosso fuoco if there is such a thing.

Of course there is, Fuoco is a triple layer. Not sure about this GTO as there are so many special reds now. But Fuoco is among the possibilities, indeed!
