I think reading your long post will only show how you overrate your own biased opinion being reasonable and objective....It has so many mistakes and assumptions made by looking into wikipedia without having seen one of the races/racers you are talking about that it can not be taken serious...I have the impression that you act like Trump...you always try to put one on top if possible...good luck, it became obviously completely unusefull to discuss with you on that matter any further...Button being no match for Hamilton although he outscored him over three seasons is so ridiculous that it best proves the "objectivity" of your posts and does not require any more comments..
Well Peter... I usually refrain myself from anything close to calling anyone names, but... from time to time I can't help but rememoring my grandmother, who could be suspected of really bad faith herself at occasions...born during the first German annexion (1871 - 1918) German was her first langage, and when she was confronted to such strange logic that she thought time would be lost discussing the matter, she used to say: "Wegen Dummheit kämpfen selbst die Götter vergeblich"... Been watching the games in Rio last few days ...puts all the 'hysteria' on here into some perspective. You can see some of the true GOAT etc doing their stuff live. Roll on Spa!
I agree, the last few races have been disappointing, he has lost the ability to start, and although very quick in the race itself afterwards, hasn't been clinical enough to actually pull back the lead.... Hopefully he can get over his anxiety and get back to doing what he is capable of, winning races. Mixed in with engine penalties for his teammate, he could still repair the damage and win his first championship
I dunno what it is you're talented at but you sure aren't a great judge. Hamilton's 'number two's' have included two current world champions and a guy who beat Schumacher on a regular basis in equal machinery (I guess Schumacher was the number two at Mercedes).
Well, this season is actually THE test as far as his racecraft goes: if he doesn't win this one, I guess he won't never win one... Rgds
He is a great guy and I was very sad when he retired early (tough technically speaking, he retired at the right time I guess, in his prime). IMO his retirement on the last lap of the 2001 (?) spanish GP is one of the most heartbreaking retirements I've seen in F1. Surely up there with Schumachers engine failure in the closing stages in Japan 2006...Championship gone (He was on equal points with Alonso at the start of that race, and it was the 2nd to last race of the season). Mika had great banter with Schumacher and others after the race too, great personality. Also not afraid to admit mistakes or wrong opinions (he was opposed to Verstappen joining F1, but said recently he was happily wrong and extremely happy how it's all working out for Max).
Schumis included 3 x world champion piquet, massa (highly rated entering f1 and being nurtured through sauber to an eventual works drive) who should've won the title in 2008, narrowly beaten by timo Glock, errr, Elton. Irvine wasn't a slouch, barrichello was acknowledged as extremely quick prior to being blown away by schumi. Not exactly also rans. On the other hand, Elton beat kovalienen, hardly the best driver of the day, is regularly bested by Nico, button beat him over the three seasons he had and no one thinks button is a candidate for best driver in 2009 when he was champ, let alone GOAT material, and Alonso was level with Elton despite having almost the whole second half of the season given no information and having to defer to the novice due to politics in the team. Hmmm, and yet I'm no judge..... Absolutely not, but I gauge Elton ain't a hero that's for sure
The guy had balls that's for sure, watching that pass I couldn't believe he could make it and just expected carbon fibre and lots of crying....... Then he was through If schumi respected a driver on track, you knew he was good, that's why coulthard was always virtually ignored by schumi, he didn't rate him (although I was hopeful when he made his debut, he had good speed, but I don't think he ever developed other aspects, but then, he was number two at mclaren in the days when they admitted they had an order)
Same here. I like Nico and he is my favourite driver, but the way his point advantage melted is rather alarming.
Yes...he seemed to be right on track, and then it was just as if something has slipped suddenly out of his hands...hope he can recover and give Lewis a fair fight until the end. Rgds
The 20 points he threw away in team spirit in Monaco are ones he'll regret for the rest of his life IMO
In some way I think if anyone on the grid can come back, then it will be Rosberg. He had two seasons now of strong headwind and always came back with a surprising performance. He never packed up after a race where he didn't stand a chance or where Hami played some of his games. While Hamilton had a streak of bad luck entering the season, Rosberg had a streak of bad luck later on. He is just not a tenth as vocal about technical issues as group44 and their twins are. If he loses the 2016 campaign to Hamilton, absolutely.
I don't know why, but Nico looked like having a bad day at Monaco, and finally HAD to let Hamilton by. Damn if you do, damn if you don't. If he had blocked LH, he would have been blamed by everybody, the media, the punters and certainly his team. Also, LH is always very vocal to criticise his team mate, both on the radio and after the race. so ... So, Nico did the gentleman thing and now that may come back to haunt him. Some will judge him unmotivated, or afraid of Hamilton, etc... To me, he acted with sportsmanship and I always like that in a driver. I think MB appreciated as well.
He is a class act, Nico, unfortunately he is paired with someone with the morals of an alley cat, so he suffers big time for it
It is difficult to judge talent across "generations" of F1, but I can say with certainty which I'd prefer to have dinner with.
Since all current F1 drivers are at least one generation after me, my criteria when I evaluate one is to think "Would I be proud or ashamed if he was my son ?" Rosberg, Perez, Ricciardo, and a few others would fit the bill and make me proud to be their father. Some others I prefer not to mention, I would ignore, I think ... It's purely subjective, I know, but that's how I function ...
So take the bollocking. The team will win the WCC with ease, they already missed out on the perfect season anyways, so that wasn't happening either. He has HIS championship to think about, not Lewis'. He had brake issues the entire race which is why he was slow...
I don't know if Rosberg has already signed his new contract. So, bear that in mind. Upsetting MB by blocking LH may have put him in a difficult position to renew. Nico must know that he has at the moment, the absolute best car on the grid. Why should he forfeit his place in a winning team? Which team has shown interest in him? Sometimes, it's better to swallow your pride and look at the long term future, rather than doing something silly.
Straws ... firmly ... clutched. Baz Daytona (must be the same person, yeah?) why not start a thread about MS's great overtakes. I'm kinda struggling to remember any other than the Alonso/Coulthard/Hill/JV incidents ... and he didn't really shine in those, although I suppose at least he didn't drive into Alonso.
