There must be more to the story than we're being told. As we know, Porsche doesn't get involved in any category of racing unless they know that they've got a particular advantage in the rules. But, we've not witnessed defections such as this in a squabble over those rules. BHW
Park Place pulls Porsche 911 from VIR race Park Place pulls Porsche 911 from VIR race Park Place team owner/driver said Patrick Lindsey: Weve been in discussions with the series about what we have felt was an improper Balance of Performance on the Porsche. Our view is that what the series is doing is more driver BoP. Its very elaborate and theyre kind of missing the big picture.
Porsche has been a stalwart of the GT category in many different series since the first 911 appeared back in 1960, many time with no chance of winning. At some races, more than half the field were Porsches! But since the introduction of BoP, the rules have been rather unkind to Porsche and favoured other makes. Maybe it's time to ditch BoP in some series ?
I agree, IMSA (and the FIA) needs to fix the driver ratings/"fake silver" problem. but throwing fits and taking your toys and going home isn't the behavior I'd expect from "gentlemen" drivers. also, Patrick Lindsey owns the Park Place dealer group (one of the largest Porsche dealers in the US). so don't think this isn't just about perceived fairness....
