Is anyone going to be able to report back here what the two 79 930s do at Russo Steele? They run tomorrow. Red one looks really nice, white one has a special interior but could use some refreshing around the edges.

The market is slowing down, at least the market dealers like Sloan perceives. I called Richard (RIP) last year on the moonstone and the cashmere '79s, and he quoted me mid $200K for both. Cars are nice, but nowhere near that amount.

The white RoW '79 930 has a non-original post-1979 300 KPH speedo, 1981 dated spare, missing H-4 headlight trim, non-original Pasha interior per the attached COA, replacement dash pad with incorrect stitching, etc. It also looks like the rear wheel spacers are either missing or the incorrect width for the 8 x 16 Fuchs. Low mileage continues to be touted in many 930 auctions (much like the Ferrari 308 market) but I would take a higher-mileage original car vs. cars with so many mods or incontinences. It’s so easy to debunk many of the low-mileage cars (often just from online photos) and amazing how many gullible buyers are out there that believe the reported mileage (and not just with 930s).

As usual idart is correct. This car has a number of issues but was still enjoyable to get a close look. I was struggling to find a word to describe that interior and thought 'psychedelic' might create a word picture.

I'm not familiar with 'Pasha' in the context of upholstery and would like to know more about that. idart; Oh wise one, please share more knowledge.

Porsche touted the great ergonomics of the 928 when introduced - and then once you got a look at the purina chex (pasha) interior and it gave you a headache you had to laugh.

There are a few posts here on Pasha - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/search.php?searchid=9802089

Could be ordered for RoW 1979s but I believe for the white example at auction it was added later (or has an incorrect COA).

It is great to see 930's like the recent low mileage cars out of Marshall Goldman. Careful observation of established low mile examples helps establish correct factory delivered pieces which can be especially helpful with the 1979 MY NA early/late types.

“It was violent, it was fantastic.”

"Dick Barbour narrates the thrilling historical journey and racing glory of this 1979 Porsche 935. This car, chassis 009 0030, offered legendary actor and racer Paul Newman his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut on June 10, 1979, alongside co-drivers Dick Barbour and Rolf Stommelen."

Barbour speaks of 800+ HP qualifying and 650-700 HP race settings to achieve over 220 MPH. The video notes 70,000 race miles! Congrats to new owner, Adam Carolla for his cool $4.4 Million purchase at the Gooding & Company Auction a few days ago.

    Later in it's career, this 935 was the only Apple livery car and looked stunning as such. Thanks to rennlist.com there is more info here;

    Very cool...

Chassis #009 0030 may have won the 1979 Le Mans if it were not for Don Whittington’s on-track repair at hour 21 (jury-rigged the alternator belt for the broken fuel-injection belt). The delay was only 1 hour and 10 minutes and allowed Kremer’s #41 entry to drive to pits where it received proper repairs and eventually won the race. Changing this belt with other cars driving by at speed must have been nerve-racking.

I have such mixed feelings on modding 930s. I feel modding the 1986 and up can be acceptable if done nicely. I feel any car with a 930 vin (1975 to 1979) should be left stock. The 1980 to 1985 cars were low volume and a lot of those cars had special interiors, color combinations so a lot of these cars should be left alone as well.

I'm not saying you can't mod a 930. But the 1980 to 1988 years are best for this. Early 930s 1975 to 1979 should be left stock.

    I agree.
But, If you do want a modified 930 there are many already modified cars to choose from and then redo it.

Highest price that I have actual knowledge of and can verify is very high $500Ks for a delivery mile '79. I don't know if there are higher sales of which I'm not aware.

Since we are talking about non stock items I was going through automotion from 1984 and found these momo wheels as well as the Porsche Design one. I like the Prototipo.

Not sure what further details you're looking for. I've given about as much as I am at liberty to. The data is fact.
