China barn find: I bumped into this internet picture with a license plate, pulled some strings and found the car has 24000 km in 2012 serviced in a local dealer. granted, I don't have much info about the vin and its options, but in this condition, assuming accident-free, how much would you guess this car could fetch if its in the US and/or Europe? I was thinking of pulling some more strings to acquire this baby. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thats a pretty high mileage car and no service since 2012. Could be a deep hole to throw money into. Will need major service and new set of tires. If you got it back to good condition, I think it might be worth 300k - 325k on retail side. You will still have to do everything to certify it for US DOT specs which will be expensive. To change instrument cluster to US spec, I heard is 12K. If your looking to own one, I think there are better options. If your looking to flip the car, well good luck.
If you got it for an outstanding price which right now some people in China might be willing to do considering the economy. Would still have a competent person look it over with a fine tooth comb. I don't believe in the "no stories" car anymore. If its ok, that could be an awesome car as a driver that you wouldn't feel bad about putting miles on. When the cars start having a premium in the market, that makes it a harder decision to drive for the pure enjoyment.
another 16m, which is like 2000 miles from me, looks pretty clean ,mechanically I don't know, is asking for 320,000 US$. compared to scud asking prices --- about 210,000 usd
24000rpm, Actually was wondering is the economy that bad in China? Keep hearing stories of high end sports cars getting reallocated to other markets because the China market has fallen so drastically. One remarkable rumor was 40 cars-Porsche 918s got reallocated back to European market because the owners decided not to take delivery.
That 2K mile car sounds like a better deal. Depending on color, condition and history that car in the US maybe 400K-425k retail.
it is pretty bad, but I've never heard of the 40 car taken back thing. I think the chinese economy is getting back to normal pace, a more healthy one. but number of ferrari dealerships are less and less nationwide, that's for sure
The 40 car thing just a rumor, not confirmed. Came from a notable Porsche source. Ferrari closing up dealerships in probably one of their highest growth markets is definitely concerning. Not Ferrari, but from a global perspective on discretionary spending. I thought cars were always more expensive in Asia. The dealerships here in US are very strict about allowing purchased cars from leaving and being sold overseas in Asia for a significant amount more? Is that not the case?
actually no, increasing proportion of the new fixer-upper cars sold in China are from US direct import, regardless of its country of manufacture, be it a ferrari or a ford. Rich people are trying to save money as well. put it to perspective, a new 488 would cost 700,000 US$ from a dealer and 600,000 if you buy it from a "parallel importer" , or so they call it.
Thats still fairly high mileage for what is on the market here. Friend of mine sold his 16M with 4K miles in excellent condition 325-350K as trade in.
Haven't heard a lot on the forum. 10 cars on the market through Dupont, 7 cars are 450K+. 3 cars at 400K. I guess market has gone up but no info on real sales numbers. The 16M has a unique position in the evolution of the Ferrari mid engined V8. I have heard the Speciale Aperta is bringing a tremendous premium at 200K+. Should the 16M have a value more than the 50K-75K over MSRP in the market?
I know it's been covered many times but this is one area where things change quickly. What is the current thought on the best dry weather only, mostly road and limited track use tyre. OEM Pirelli P Zero Corsa Michelin Pilot Super Sport Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Others? Sizes? OEM is 235/35/ZR19 and 285/35/ZR19. Any sense in going wider?
Tried them all. Prefer Michelin Pilot Super Sport, but zero track time on them. Currently have them on my 16M . Great dry weather tire.
What is the difference between the Super Sport and the Sport Cup 2 that makes you prefer 1 over the other. Did you go with OEM sizes?
Russell, what's your average annual mileage like? If it's under 5,000 miles then go for the better, stickier Cup2s. The PSS' tend to grease up really quickly on circuit.
Does anyone have actual sale transaction prices on 16M's. All except one still asking 450k+ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have put my 16M for sale in the classified section. Spending more time and money racing and the 16M does not get used much anymore. Cheers Cal Image Unavailable, Please Login
