    It's time the Northern Territory was taken over by the Commonwealth and made a state. It's out of control up there IMO.

    The problem exists in most remote communities across WA, NSW, NT and north QLD. It is a FUBAR of epic proportions. Political answer is to throw more money at it, but that has never worked in any country, welfare dependence is one of the causes, not a solution.

    I would start by firing every public servant involved - there's a massive industry leaching off the issue.

    In the 90's, I was with the RFDS out of Cairns - saw some horror stories right across the cape, but I remember at that time, the gummint was spending $150K per person, per year on Aurukun. Why not just buy everyone a condo and be done with it?

    The bolt action looked a little stiff
