    Cute theory but factually flawed:

2009 started the ban on testing
    2010 MS raced for MB

He did not test for MB in any meaningful way. He was only hired as. figure head

Wasn´t it you saying that since the ban of testing the drivers feedback is even more important? ;)

I have said that for sure. With less opportunity for testing, the ability of a team to make fast accurate assessments is more important.

    Indeed. :)

However giving how bad the MB was during the MS years this doesn't bode well for him.

Well, Clark seems to be under-rated here, imho - truly one of the top 4 greats.

Speaking of Lauda and Schumacher, BBC has an article today with a sound clip of a recent Lauda interview where Niki says "Schumacher would try to cheat where he could and not get caught", but clarified that wasn't a negative because "racing drivers have to do that in order to win"

BBC Radio 5 live - In Short, 'Schumacher would cheat to win' ? Lauda

Could you cite these specific rankings so we could examine them and their authors?

In the views of who, exactly?

I have a PhD in neuroscience and occasionally gave an expert view on brain injury in the Schumacher and Bianchi threads. Does that also give my views on Hamilton more gravitas? :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Well, he did beat Michael...twice. But does that mean he's better than Michael? Absolutely no.

The era was different. Michael probably wasn't the fastest out of the box, but his biggest asset was testing, plenty of testing and feedback to the team. Something obviously was not there anymore by the time he came back.

He struggled with the tyres a lot, and had his fair shares of bad luck. Nico is being truthful of beating MS. That is all.

Well depends. He seemed more human when he came back. Less robotic. Lots of smiles.

I also read that his bike accident knocked him out. That can't be good.

Martin brundle out scored Schumacher over the second half of 1992. Brundle said Schumacher is beatable you just need to wake up early in the morning ;) but that if you do beat him it gets under his skin and he will come over to you in a huff to see how it was possible for you to lap quicker than him.

Brundles words. Paraphrased or thereabouts. Maybe nico got under his skin and it distracted him a bit? Who knows

Can't remember. But I do remember that he died during the helicopter transport from the Alps. They had to revive him and should show everybody the severity of his injuries

Well, was. That was a very long time ago. Multiple State and regional champion, and US national bronze. :)

I also qualified for the US nationals in gymnastics, though I didn't think I had a realistic shot at a medal and didn't go.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Actually it was/is public knowledge in the European press. News might not have made it to South Africa, but it was certainly no secret in Central Europe. You don't need "to hang in a place where it was shared" when you have the internet. Some of the medical press conferences were shown live on the web.

Ah this again. Yes, we covered that already but anyway: Yes I was wrong on that prediction. Maybe you also remember that I made many predictions and on several of those I was willing to put my money where my mouth is by offering a friendly bet. And I won most of those (lost like one or two), which added to my beer cellar.
You should have taken me up on the Merc prediction, you would have clearly won.

And while we are on the topic of predictions: I also predicted MS to become a WDC when he debuted at Spa 25 years ago (yes, this weekend is the jubilee). Just as I also predicted and won a bet with somebody on here that Hamilton would become a multiple WDC after I saw him win his first title. Granted it took a while for that one to come through. True talent is always visible early on.

And with that I'm willing to take a friendly bet that Max will become a multiple WDC one day.

Also one of the two main arteries to his brain was damaged and would never be the same.

Just going back to Schuey's comeback with MB - sure that Rosberg had the better of him at the start, but save for some bad luck towards the end, he was doing quite well.

Personally I think his comeback brought something we'd never seen - empathy.

He showed that he's actually human; I mean even my old Schumacher-hating friends were distraught that he didn't make the podium at Montreal and were rooting for him not to lose position.

He didn't win anything but he did earn respect for his efforts.

    Best,
    Sammy
