My concern would be is the cable clamps slipping or the cable starting to go. My car the cable is fairly tight between both latches. The cables are held by a clamp with an Allen screw on my '82 308i.
After my fix a year ago, there have been no issues. Definitely just a matter of setting it correctly. And I hope I mentioned I was the one that was piddling around and tightened it too much hoping for a better fitment of the hood
