Careful with that AFFF in the fire system. It's terribly corrosive and can cause a lot of damage. The entire fire system is hopeless old and out of spec now.

If you're trying to maintain authenticity as a future return point to maintain eventual value then you can pack all that stuff up and go with a new system for any track outing's.

There was a set of reproduction decals produced for the first year series but not for the second year EVO series.

The roll cage and belts need a bunch of updating as well.

Once you start tracking the car in earnest you find lot's of things to address.
If this car got a set of Sala's SS tubular headers you are way ahead of the game. See Panini's car. The gorgeous SS heat shield wrapped original cast iron headers all cracked as the shielding was a huge mistake. Stock Ghibli II headers work OK. ECU tuning can be done by anyone who has the equipment to do the F40 and some Cosworths as well.

The gear change needs race bred updating as well as the tranny mounts. That's all BMW 3 series stuff so it's not hard to find. Otherwise you'll find yourself inadvertently selecting a wrong gear and that can cause valve damage. I always though a metal gate might be nice.

I see that your rear valence already has the heat shield on it, that's good because the fiberglass gets burned otherwise.

Congrats! You have bought a great piece of history! Those Ghiblis were very successful racing cars in Italian GT racing in the mid- to late 1990s.

What you think how many are existing in original, not highly modified condition?

Once you get the car and get it running come back and ask some questions.

Original unmodified condition will seem a silly question unless you're not going to actually use the car.

The first year series were constantly modified because of everything that failed on these cars when pushed hard in competition. The second year Evoluzione Kit wasn't for nothing and remember that the entire project was grossly under funded and terminated early the second year. These cars were unfinished as race cars while still in the series. Even with the EVO kit.

I should think that this one would make for the best track day car version as long as you don't push it to 10/10ths. You could drive it on the road and it wouldn't come apart as quickly as an EVO car WO any suspension rubber.

    Enrico's Maserati Page

It wouldn't be as fast of course and the brakes would be very weak but you could upgrade the brakes. After all the stock Ghibli Cup is still coveted by many as a great diving car.
