Amen to that! In Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," he has one episode in which he drives his 1973 911 RS. He states that he bought it from the estate of the first owner, and that the next time it is sold will be after he is dead! Fred
On my last and final visit to Rochester NY, I began thinking of the variety of Ferraris in the area when I lived there. Amazing! 330 2+2 (2) 330 GTC 275 GTB/4 365 2+2 (2) 250 GTO (#4713) 250 GTO (#5575) Prototype Dino (Longitudinal engine) At least four 246 GTB and GTS 312 P 365 GT/4 2+2 Testarossa (2) 365 GTS 412 MI Prototype Daytona Daytona Spider Daytona Coupe (2) 275 GTB short nose 275 GTB long nose alloy body 330 2+2 with wicker door inserts 275 GTS 308 GT/4 (2) Many 308 GTS & GTB 328 GTB Gold California Spider (ex Publiker show car) 365 GTC/4 These are the ones I remember - there are probably more. That's what I see every morning. 34 years now... Not bad... Time flies... Cannot imagine this place empty. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very nice read, may the sound of your engine continue to chase you for as long as you are able to enjoy it. Drive hard and smile a lot, Stay Well, Mike
I know what your are thinking. The Dino hasn't been around that long. Well, I bought my Dino 35 years ago yesterday, June 16, 1981 from my best friend of 58 years. And we are still best friends! I, too, am planning on selling my Dino.......after I am dead! Congratulations to you Fred. Great story.
Thank you so much for your kind wishes. They illustrate the good will and friendship fostered by Ferrari Chat in general and the Dino 206/246 Forum in particular. I wish you the very same, MM355. Fred
Hi Fred, I don't visit this part of the forum often but that's an amazing story. I'm 50 and I sometimes wonder how it would feel to have owned a car that long and for it to have been kept roadworthy, rather than cherished for 10 years and then left to rot for 20 plus years, as you often see. The 308 wheels look fanatastic, that's the first time I've seen later wheels improve the look of a car rather than spoil it. Hope you live long & healthy to keep enjoying it.
Thank you, Carl! When I bought my Dino I was never thinking about owning it this long. Being 28 years old at the time, I just wanted to drive it. Now, we are both approaching the sunset years. I'm older, and cars are shedding their drivers. I'm glad that I'm old enough to have learned to appreciate fine machinery before it became the goal to remove the driver from the equation. Regards, Fred
Great story, Fred. I really enjoyed reading that. Unfortunately I had to wait until I was a little(!) bit older to buy my Dino, so I am not sure I shall live to see the 40th. anniversary of my acquisition, but many congratulations to you on yours. I, too, like blue: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Love your Dino, John. Enjoy it to the max. They are more exciting every day. With today's computerized and, dare I say it, "autonomous" cars, the joy is being sucked out of the automotive experience. Regards, Fred
Thank you, ttforcefed and carguyjohn350! Sharing my Dino journey with kindred souls on Ferrari Chat has only added to the ownership experience for me. Fred
