Oem TTS exhaust sound is poor. I said with an aftermarket exhaust the TTS sounded more aggressive, to me.

Sound : From whose perspective? Driver inside the car or spectator outside the car?

One nice feature of the 458 spider is that you can open the rear window and, as the driver, get more unobstructed sound from the engine.

That isn't an option in the Hurican. Of course if you have the convertible version then you can put down the top. You can do this in the 458 spider too.

Another advantage between the two convertibles is that the 458 is a folding hard too.

Hi Malibu guy. From both perspectives - from the inside if I go against other exotics their sound always overpowers mine. From the outside I have followed my car from behind, not what I would expect from a Lambo.

This kind of post is absolutely meaningless. It appears you simply like to tap a keyboard.

Catless IPE is the best, you are going to love it! Did you go with the blue tips?

Both the 458 and Huracan have been widely praised for their sound, though they sound different from each other.

Owning a Porsche Turbo for 8 years, I don't get the OP's assertion that it is a great sounding car. I too had an aftermarket exhaust (actually several...ugh wate of money). Yes, they get louder but there is always the "banana in the tailpipe" effect from the turbos.

But we all know that sound (and looks) isn't why the Turbo has been the all-around best production sportscar of the past 2 decades.

Give the 458 a try, great looks AND sound...

I had a 2015 Turbo S with an aftermarket exhaust. There is no way it comes close to the 458 or Huracan. Not even close. The turbo is like a vacuum on acceleration.

My Huracan sport exahaust was ok. Sound is subjective. The burbles and pops on lift off were synthetic. Sounds great if you're into that. Anyone who races cars or buys a car just for the drive/performance would pick the 458 over the Huracan. No question. And I'm not talking about lap times. There are better track cars out there.

In the end, both are great.

My 2013 spider has sport exhaust which gives a deeper note. It also busts sound limits on Laguna Seca.
I don't need music from the Infotainment... the music comes up from behind.
    Cheers

Is there a sport exhaust option for the spider? Thought it's just the black tips.

My 15 turbo s cab had a catless Fabspeed exhaust, it was very loud and had hideous drones. That said I prefer the porsche sound over the huracan sound, shows how much I dislike the Lambo exhaust. But these things are super subjective.

I will test drive an aventador as well.

For those who say the 458 tech is outdated, what am I really missing if I made the switch? Lower resolution map and no hd radio? Infotainment execution in the huracan really isnt all that great.

If you mean swap to a racing cat (100 cel) then you will not have a car that stinks and depending on your regional jurisdiction may pass emissions.

If you just go cat less, then you have an illegal road car which will not pass emissions and which will stink and pollute.

It won't go any faster due to losing ten pounds and won't go any faster either with a NA engine.

The best sounding 458 In my opinion is the Speciale. Sounds better than an F12.

Just make sure having a louder exhaust isn't too loud. You can make a 458 sound amazing, but it can very easily just get annoying as well. I drove a 458 where the exhaust opened up at 3000 rpms. It was super annoying.

You mentioned driving behind it at cruising speed and not being able to really hear much. Well, make sure you actually want to hear it at cruising speed. I know I certainly don't want my car loud all the time and especially not just cruising.

I have a 12C, which is arguably not that amazing of an exhaust, and it can get really loud inside if the RPMs are high. Definitely not something I'd want when just cruising at 3000 rpm.

As a former Speciale owner, I couldn't disagree more.
But I respect your opinion. You should love the new 488 sound.

You aren't missing anything that matters. Uses the radio or nav anyway. The engine and gearbox is a masterpiece. Some say better sound than the 488.

Technically speaking, yes, the Huracan is way beyond the 458 in probably every technological way. That's expected given it is 5 years newer.

Will you notice anything other than the digital dash and infotainment? Probably not. At the end of the day, for 99% of driving, they are both just cars that go from A to B in a very similar way. I could blindfold you and drive you in either way and you'd never be able to tell which was newer or better. Hell, a lot of driving won't even be much different than any generic sports cars today.

I believe the biggest difference between all modern exotics is interior/exterior design, sound, and straight-line acceleration. The rest is neither here nor there, relatively speaking. They all have limits very far beyond what you will be able to notice on normal roads. People will tell you a Huracan understeers, but I've yet to see a video of someone understeer on a normal road.
