Hi Olivier, are you sure? The rear flares look much wider than 4808, plus lots of other different details. Also don't think 4808 was in the US in the early 1980s. I think it's 4701 but can't be 100% sure. Cheers, Damien
Damien, It's not 4808, its 4701. As early as the Spring of 1981, you can see from images © Pierre Le Mounier that 4808 had been converted to a Jota-influenced front end with open air-box and exposed quick-release fuel-filler cap, plus targa roof, as shown at the 1981 Salon Genève. The side sills on 4808 are distinctly narrower, and the venting tapers inwards towards the bottom. Note that 4808's wipers have always rested on the driver's side (unlike 4701). Interestingly, in 1981 it also sported front & rear spoilers. 4808 was also shown at the Centre International de l'Automobile in Paris the same year displaying all the aforementioned features. All these features, except the spoilers, have remained on 4808 till this day. You are right that 4808 was not in the USA in the 80s. In fact, it was first brought here by Garry Roberts for a client following the March 6th 2000 Brooks Europe auction in Geneva, where, the closing bid for this car was just $120,206. It remained in Costa Mesa California (where I saw it), until it was offered for sale at the RM Auction on January 18th, 2002 in Arizona, USA, whereupon it was sold back to Europe. 4701 still has all the same features as shown on your image from the 80s, down to the mix-and-match satin black headlamp bezels versus chromed window trim, and distinctive wheels. The only thing different about 4701 these days is that it has been repainted all-red including the sills, and Vitaloni 'flag' mirrors have been added. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you Joe, just the answer I was looking for. I wonder who did the body mods on 4701? Regarding 4808 I have much the same history you mention, except it went to a Brazilian collector in 2002 before the Monaco auction the following May, then Coys London sale in December 2003. Lost track of it since French dealer Autodrome had it for sale in the mid-2000s. Cheers, Damien
No idea who modified 4701, except to say that like 4808, it was a post-production non-factory effort. The Brazilian collector used Garry Roberts, who stored the car here, it never went to Brazil, I can assure you. That piece of info should be the final piece in your jigsaw puzzle. Yes, it did the auction rounds then ended up with Autodrome.
Thanks for clarifying the history of 4808. Another car from that collection (namely one of the Allemano bodied 5000 GT Masers) found its way Down Under and following a long restoration was recently shown at the local Ferrari Club event in Melbourne. Cheers, Damien

That period picture is at Lambo Motors in Aesch Switzerland, there are also others from outside (you can find them in the Lambo Motors Ad in the ILOC magazines), showing 4808 at the time it was converted into the white giant version.
Pebble Beach tends to be over sold with general admission. The crowd parted for 30 seconds for a shot of the five Miura selected for Class S 50th Anniversary. Andrew, Jeff, Jerry, Factory, Adam S, S, S, SV, SV Green ribbon on Jeff's Miura indicates this one Miura participated on the Pebble Beach tour Thursday. Pebble tour participation helps with award consideration. Jeff won 1st in class. Congratulations Jeff..... absolutely beautiful Miura with fabulous original features. Quite a memorable week/weekend with Miura showing at pre Quail Thursday, Quail, Concourso, Serrata Italiana and Pebble Beach. The local forest fires had ash falling on Miura, at Quail, as they were being cleaned Thursday afternoon, thankfully Friday was clear. I am not sure what the Miura count was for these events back to back to back, but it was the highest Miura count in my memory. Great response from Lamborghini to host the Quail Miura set. I did not get to pay attention to the new Miura model, but looked fantastic as well. Not quite as small, light, low and bare as the original P400....but nice. They seem to be putting radios and such to keep you from getting bored in late model exotics. Never seems to the case in a 67 P400. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are just 16 Miura tails seen at Quail. The "barn find" Miura P400 #46 - chassis 3078 was a big hit. Anyone have a list of the Miura/chassis/owners? Image Unavailable, Please Login
You are so right, these days, if you don't do the Pebble Beach Tour, your chances of an award are significantly reduced! That said Jeff's car is indeed very special. As regards numbers, just for clarification, the highest Miura count in one place still remains the 2000 Miura Reunion production-numbers with 27 cars in attendance at Quail Lodge 16 years ago.
Anyone recognize this Miura P400S? An attorney whose dad purchased it almost 40 years ago has just contacted me looking to buy an example of the car he has idolized since childhood. From one generation to another. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am looking for yet another Miura P400, anyone with a nice car available please contact me directly offline at [email protected] Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Collection in the rain at salon Prive Blenhiem Palace today... the covered one at the back is the factory convertible apparently. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Joe, I was going through my old books and stuff (packing for our impending move) and stumbled across my notes from back around 1978 or maybe 1979 when I was 18 or 19 years old. I had recently discovered Lamborghini and decided that I really needed a Miura. LOL! There was a 1968 P400 Miura for sale at Foreign Cars Italia in North Carolina. Steve Barney was the salesman back then. I found the ad in the big newspaper style "Autoweek". The car was listed for $16,500.00. It was red with black leather seats (with red cloth inserts). The car had a bad bank (you can see the compression #'s Steve had given me. I was just curious if you happen to know the car, or where it is. Do to a mix up over the weekend that I was supposed to buy it back in '78/'79, they ended up selling it to a guy in South Carolina for $14,500.00! I still shed a tear when I think about it.
