Maybe I'm expecting too many things from the same car but I'm looking for something fairly luxurious, reliable, fun and can withstand the harsh Canadian winters. The cars I've driven and seriously considering so far are:

    - Mercedes C63 AMG S
    - Jaguar F Type (AWD)
    - Maserati Ghibli S Q4

Looking for recommendations/opinions on these cars :)

Picked up an E63AMG S a few weeks ago, still smiling!
Brilliant daily driver with AWD for the months we dread
It's akin to a muscle car and luxury car with the turn of a dial
    Did I mention the Sound!

I was very impressed with my test drive of the new NSX. I can see it doing 100K miles easy with Honda reliability.

You can't go wrong with the Merc. Porsche Cayenne is a good option too but the Merc is good everywhere except toting the kids and their pals to sporting events.

I was speaking with a Ferrari owner who told me the best year round car he ever had and enjoyed was his Carrera4S even in winter.

Depends on location. Ontario Id go with the Merc. Here in Vancouver anything will work in winter. More rain over ice and snow.

The AWD Porsche 911's are unstoppable tanks in the winter. They are unbelievable winter cars. C4S and Turbo are highly recommended. I've never had any issue getting anywhere in the last 6 winters no matter how bad the conditions have been. They are also fast for ice racing as well.

Porsches are great for the winter, great on Ice, as fast or faster than Ferraris on the racetrack. Does that mean that Porsches are the best car in the world?

I do like the Ghibli but to be honest it just doesn't feel as well equipped as the Merc or any car at that price. Plus I'm on the East Coast so the closest dealer is Quebec, which a friend of mine didn't recommend; that's why I went to Ferrari/Maserati of Ontario.

Never been into Porsches but might actually check them out. I do like the new Panamera, funny because you couldn't get me into the old one even if you paid me :D

So far it's either the Merc or the Jag. We have several cars from Merc and they take really good care of us, but I'd like to try something different, and I always had a soft spot for the F Type. It looks, sounds and drives amazing.

Another option is to wait for the new Merc E Coupe! I hear they're making an AMG for this gen. I was invited to drive the sedan months back and it was alright.

Up until last week, I used my old 97 E320 as the daily run about for anything. I also have a Cayenne S but for stop and go traffic, its 4.8L engine is a bit of a "pig". But, it's great in the winter and highway driving.

As for the old E320, it was my favourite as its old straight six engine was, and is still very good. The only issue with this car is its valve control module for the electronic transmission....I'm on the second one and it has now failed as well. Currently, I'm stuck in 2nd gear so I'm about to give the old beast to my mechanic who worked on it for years....After 20 years, the car owes me nothing and it's certainly not worth anything either.... Replacing the control module would be $3-4k, if not more. I could probably get something cheaper on ebay or an autowrecker but I think it's time I let the old Merc go.... Not sure how good or reliable the control modules in newer "E" class Mercedes are, but I don't expect them to be greatly improved....

911's are a great daily driver as well...especially the 997's. Couldn't be more pleased with my 2006 except that it will no longer hold my two teens....

    Cheers
    FN

Certainly the most versatile. Great cars stir your emotions. 911's for daily use aren't that emotional. The CGT on the other hand makes you giggle out loud.

i've driven a 911 4s, Ferrari Ff and now G63 in the winter.

all great cars. i love the Ff, but unfortunately, it wasn't the best daily driver. battery kept dying, i leave my car outside during work (8-10 hours a day).

    I'd get a 911 Turbo S. G63 is a lot of fun too.
