Just found these side by side. What's is it with supercar makers and cheese? For God's sake, Ferrari, just stop with all the speeded up footage. You're just making yourselves look silly. And Lamborghini seem to have completely lost the plot. They seem to be making promos for 14 year olds... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imJhduvTJ3Q[/ame]
I bet Ferrari had it shot that way so they could get the car to have more on-screen viewing time in the video. And re the Lamborghini one, you'd drive yours that way too if you saw that storm coming and you couldn't get the roof of your Spider to close.
what was the point of that whole video, don't get it, thought it was going to be a 1/4 mile race between the two,,
Lamborghini's stuff is super lame lately. Ferrari a bit too cliche for my taste with that epic action movie music. I personally think McLaren is putting out the best promo material. I don't know if it's their in-house team or just an agency they use, but they put out some really nice stuff with great footage and atmosphere. Ever since the 599 ad, I always see them making laughable promos. Lambo ads have always been silly, that fits their image anyways, flash and childish. Check out their LP560 ad, very silly indeed. ^That 675LT ad is a piece of art. I'm not feeling the car much, but I feel a lot about the film as a whole .
Obviously these are not done in house but hired out production companies. I actually like the Ferrari one. The nice thing about videos is that if you don't like them, don't watch them. In order I would say Ferrari>McLaren>>>Lambo in order of good to worse production.....
Video production: Mclaren did a better job, followed by ferrari. Car porn: Lambo looked and sounded best. But ferrari actually showed a lot of their car in action, and as a buyer that's the most important to me. Same as when I make a video game ad...forget the cg, just show them the game.
None of these would convince me to buy one. They all seem really silly and pretentious. Or is that they feel their markets are silly and pretentious people?
+458 I wonder if these videos are meant to woo a buyer to choose their marque or are they there to reinforce a buyer who has already made a decision? As an owner, Ferrari has my email address. They send me promotions from time to time. They did not send me this one (yet). Do they really think such videos sell their cars? I doubt it.
What, you mean when I drive my 458 the seas won't actually part?? Thats not what the dealer told me! McLaren dead hooker video by far the best.
As someone who has shot over 100 TV commercials, I give you this: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In watching the Ferrari video, Ive driven that road in Italy many times. And it never looks like that! They must have closed it, because theres about 20 diesel spewing tour busses missing!!
I drive the image every day April thru November. My reality. Love it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And, the top pic? Which is closer to reality? 😉 I don't DD mine, so my reality is largely open roads too. But, if Ferrari stuck closer to reality than dream, would many of us in our youth had their posters on our bedroom wall? How many would have thought "Some day!" when we saw a Ferrari passing in the street? I think it was LdM himself who said that Ferrari sells dreams, not cars! T
A sports car is an intrinsically interesting product, both aesthetically and technically. You couldn't ask for a better subject. But instead of showing the product, its construction details, or its features, they show disjointed motion-blurred closeups, distant landscapes, and raindrops in slow motion. Scored to Carmina Burana.
Actually I didn't think it was that bad. Sped up footage and fast zoom is just a part of cinematography these days. I hate it too but it's not like Ferrari is the only user of it, it's everywhere. But overall it was a fine promotional video. As far as McLaren, what's up with driving a sports car in the middle of a dirt valley? Talk about loosing the plot. -F
