I'm working on it. I'll post all the details when the trial is over. Talk about derailing a thread! lol

And the hits just keep on coming.

Norwood and Fchat climbing to #2 on a google search.

Unfortunatley Norwood Auto Italia is getting dragged right along with it.

No matter Dave. Zippy informed us several posts ago that Ferrarichat is not their target audience and their reputation won't be hurt in the slightest.

    To hell with Fchat.

This is GOOGLE, not an Fchat search.

don't tell me they're not concerned with what anyone who can use google might think.

No one is THAT stupid, right?

This is what happens when ego gets in the way of common sense. This nuclear meltdown of an internet thread will stand its test of time. Every time the Name Norwood comes up here on FChat in the future, he will be "That Guy, Remember?". The damage here is getting beyond what can be rebuilt.

+1, same experience. It seems very much out of character for Mr. Norwood. There must be more to the story than what we've read.

That is why you don't show someone how in charge you are by keeping a deposit.

Biggest mistake I have seen here in many years. Huge.

And it didn't have to be that way. While this is going on on the internet, they are slapping high fives with each other because they pocketed 2 large. Way to go.

I don't see how. He came on here as did his minion and posted their side of the story which really isn't in dispute with the OP.

Nothing that could change the outcome of this thread - a once respected company trashing their own reputation over ego and a small amount of money. Then coming back and repeatedly taking shots at their own feet.
Was the OP a pain to deal with? Maybe. So what? In business you take the rough with the smooth. Are there some customers you wish would go deal with your competitor? Sure! But you don't destroy your own business to show them how bad-ass you are and you sure as hell don't boast about your illegal actions on a searchable public forum.

Perhaps but unless Bigred has executed a coup BN has to be aware of what is happening here. The fellow who bought the other business bearing the Norwood name has no doubt made a phone call by now. BN has done nothing so far to satisfy the OP nor make any explanation/justification for keeping that man's money. If there is more to the story then why not defend himself? OP seems civil enough.

If this is a case of too much autonomy given to the wrong person as I was earlier suspecting I'd be very surprised at this point.

Kind of hoping for Norwood's sake that zippy got his internet privileges taken away.

First, $2000 is not a lot of money, and really too small of a deposit for the negotiated price of the car.

Second, the seller is going to find out how PayPal really works. And they won't be pleased.

Third, since the deposit is going back to the buyer anyway (see point above) the seller should take the initiative and do it themselves.

    Because...

$2000 is not a lot of money. Time wasted is the cost of doing business.

Salvage your reputation. $2000 is not a lot of money.

$2000 is not a lot of money to whom?

Besides, it doesn't matter the amount, what matters is what's wright and wrong

The really bizarre thing is that BN emerged from 8 years of Ferrarichat hiding to post that one boast that he had a new buyer, then disappeared.

I wonder if he just plain doesn't look at the internet until his assistant brings him over to the screen to look at something specific.

BN built those too. Along with 308's with SBC and 288 bodywork
Can you stamp a vin in fiberglass?? :p

    Wright and rong. Yup.
Closed deal? No? Deposit goes back. Period.

Have any of you guys who thinks keeping the deposit is OK ever LOST a few grand on a deposit?

$2k in Ferrari world isn't a lot. $2k in friggin' REPLICA world isn't a lot. But you don't buy cars giving away $2k to people "because they had a great reputation". That was then, on those deals. Now?

Wow. I read this entire thing in hopes that the seller would make things right and do the honorable thing. I came up short and disappointed. Hope he issues a public apology and does the right thing in the end. I think we can all get heated and do the wrong thing out of spite. But being intractable this long is just childish and foolhardy.

$2000/$110,000 = 1.82% so, from the perspective of the deal, it's not a ton of money.

And yes, right and wrong is what matters.

At the other end of this spectrum, a number of years ago I bought a Porsche at Al Holbert's dealership in PA. It was about $17K, as I recall. I test drove it, and liked it, and wanted it, but didn't have a check with me, and this was before the days of ATMs.

I gave him a $10.00 bill as a deposit. TEN BUCKS CASH.

He held the car over the weekend for me and I went back the following week, paid the balance and took the car home.

A man is only as good as his word. He promised he'd hold the car for me, and I never thought otherwise.

Norwood, there's a lesson in this for you.

    Your word is your bond.

Al, I don't think so. Both sides have laid out their arguments here.

If Norwood had something that could change our minds, don't you think they'd post it?
