To my knowledge there were 2 LM in Johannesburg, the red one (mine) and a Green one that belonged Italians that ran a transport company, mine is a US spec unit, but was imported new by House of Sportscars when they were in Rosebank.

I think the correct Pirelli tyres match the OTT style of the car (especially with the sand lip), but from a practical point the BFG should be fine, and as the originals also have a clearance problem, and the BFG's are reasonable price and available, I better order two for the rear.

I was friends with Robbie at perfection turbo sprt where the lambos and astons were serviced.

I remember that car, it had a repaint somewhere back in the 90s because the lambo paint was flaking off. One of the two Lms dont remember which one had a leaky fuel injecttor, it filled the cylinder while the car sat, the owner thought the battery was flat after a long lunch and tried to roll start it, led to much engine work from the hydrostatic lock.

LM paint was pretty bad on some. Ours had a total repaint under warranty.

I saw a Porsche motor that happened to. Had a leaky needle and seat and was parked on a steep hill so the tank was high and it filled a couple of cylinders. Turned the rods "S" shaped.

The Paint on my roof is peeling off, it is on the list of jobs to do, along with Exhaust "Y" bot sides and remove the cats, the fuel level sender, and replace the steering ball joint dust covers, mine has been re-painted, so it could be the one you are talking about Sean, no sure about the hydraulic/bent rod issue!!!! It has had the timing chain problem sorted out for sure.

IIRC I bought a set of complete brand new LM002 EFI woners manual, service book and dealer book for a nicely sum of EU 2500. LOL.
A photo copy of an original book is fine though :p
Put a book copy in the car and the original one in the house.

Stupid question: where are the relays and fuses? Maybe they are hidden by the music relays and condensers on mine, as I couldn't find them. (Srsly)

Bought them from another LM002 owner (Mike) in the UK, he got two sets and decided that it was not practical to keep the second set, unlikely to wear the tires out at 4mpg!!!! I have fitted the tires to the refurbished rims, but I haven't had chance to get the car out to take pictures, too busy working on my 512BB, it is about 70% done, about 4 months to go.

    Great to hear.
How much are the tires going for a set of 4?

I cannot answer that question, it is more a case of where could I get a set that are not past the sell by date!!!, if one of the tire manufacturers do not make a suitable tire for the LM, we will have to start looking at custom rims say 18" but even then where do you get a 345 width. To answer your question, $20,000 for a set of four new tires sounds silly, but it isn't if there is no other option.

325/50-20 is the closest size but that tire size is also discontinued
