The wheel on my clock is missing, so does anyone have a source for this knurled adjustment knob on the clock on a 78? Or maybe the gauge of the thread / width of the stem so I can go to a watchmaker and source something similar?

The part I'm talking about is clearly show here:

    Many thanks in advance

My knob turns but doesn't move the hands. I just unhook the battery, set my alarm to a minute before the time on the clock and run out and hook battery back up at said time. Problem solved. :)

Do you have any tools to measure the thread it takes? Or probably easier, take it to a local watch repairer and see whether it's a standard size of some sort. I'd rather not take my whole clock out since all I need is to thread a new knob onto the existing spindle..

The o/d of the knob you turn and the o/d of the spindle it sits on would be good to know.

My clock works. I would have to check world time zones to tell you what time it reports. And now that makes me realize I have never touched the knob in 10 years of ownership :):).

IIRC, he said he was taking a job 'out of town' and 'would not be posting for awhile.'

    The rest is just guessing.

Thanks Mark. The length of the spindle, if yours comes out, would be great to know. A picture of both would very helpful if they are already seperated on your broken clock :)

I could set the clock via the battery I suppose, but I like timepieces that work properly.

    Sorry for the wait.

Length of spindle I don't have. Sorry.

    A. Length of the 'knob part' of the knob: 6.33mm.

    B. Metal spindle diameter: 2mm.

    C. Diameter of the small end of chrome plastic knob the metal spindle goes into: 4mm.

    D. Diameter of smooth ring at the base of the knob: 6mm.

    E. Length of the smooth ring on the knob: 1mm.

    F. Diameter of the very end of the knob: 5.6mm.

To min confusion I'll post a pic showing these measurements tomorrow.

    Note:

The plastic knob IS tapered from where the metal shaft goes in to where the flat part of the knob jets out. I forgot to measure the diameter of that at that point (where the flat part jets out.

    Do you want that?
